Uh huh, and did you notice that the gap will increase from 70,000 this year to an estimated 381,300 in 2014? So, for example, if the ideal marrying age men number were to stay steady at 1.98 million, that would put the women's number at around 1.6 million. What sort of ratio would that make? Maybe that's why the article started with the line:
| Quote: |
| One in every five men is likely to have trouble finding a spouse by 2014, a study suggests, when the ratio of men to women at the ideal marriage age will reach a record high. |
|
The only total number they give was the 1.98 and 1.91.
You can't assume that that the 1.98 number for men will stay the same when the women will go down by that number. Maybe the number of men will go up, or down.
Right now the numbers is a 70,000 gap for that 29-33 and 26-30 age group. In the future they predict the gap will go up to 380,000. Okay, so there will be a gap, but you can't make a ratio out of that one number. |
Yeah, an exact ratio cannot be established without knowing the number of men and women in the equation. But it's fairly reasonable to assume that the number of men will not hugely differ from now. Your own previous post stated that "if the ratio was over 110 then it would be a little concerning." Well, to get that ratio and still have the gap of 381,000, you would need to have 4,191,000 men and 3,810,000 women in that ideal marrying age range. Which assumption makes more sense; that the number of men in a certain age group will stay about the same four years from now, or that it will more than double? Anything less than 4,191,000 and obviously, the ratio get worse. Even if the number of men increases quite a bit, say to 2.5 million, that still puts the ratio at 118. |

If you're getting off by letting your better half screw others...whatever...unless it justifies your cheating!
Prisons are full of people who have killed their cheating better half and/or their lover.
I don't want some jealous better half gunning for me! |

Okay, so the ratio of men[29-33]/women[26-29] is probably going to be high, according to that article. So what? Always people outside of that age range to marry.
With the changing attitude towards marriage and divorce these days, it won't be a problem. So some 300,000 men might have marry a divorcee, or a lady 10+ years older him, or even stay single. A lot of people stay single, not going to be a problem that will bring on social chaos. Anyone between the ages of 20-40 can hook up, that's plenty of people to choose from. |

So first you say, "If the ratio was over 110 then it would be a little concerning," and then when people demonstrate the ratio will be over 110 (and probably by a substantial margin), you shrug it off? You're contradicting yourself at this point. |

WELL GETTING BACK ON TOPIC....
Actually my very first girlfriend, when I was 14, I stole from another dude. The chase was awesome, a real emotional roller coaster. The prize, however, was less awesome. After she's with you all the drama goes away, and then what do you do? Well, when you're 14, you don't do anything and then she leaves you for your friend.
I think I'd do it again, but with a bit more maturity, if she was awesome and she showed interest in me. But the stakes would be higher. I'd be more willing to drop her a$$ if there was some kinda problem. If everything wasn't perfect I'd walk away to find a single girl. |

| I do not trust women for the simple fact that, in my sexual history, a full half of the women I had encounters with admitted a week later that they had a boyfriend...and another half of those wanted to keep our "secret" a regular occurrence. For shame ladies...you truly have no heart. |

The culture expects women to have a boyfriend. Even if he is just a friend. Having a boyfriend here doesn't mean the K-girl is off the market or even head over heels. I would say that if there's a chemistry between you and she gives you a sign, then it should be good. Just a few weeks ago, me and a buddy were sitting beside a K-couple. The man was going all out to be as romantic and dashing as possible, but I kept getting little signals from the K-girl that she had noticed me. Such things as moving her head towards me when I talked and the position of her body. And this was all while the K-man was trying his darndest to win her over. I felt quite uncomfortable with that and got up and left.
As for sex ratio statistics. Here's something about Seoul:
"Seoul demography shows that there are people from Central Asia, South Asia, South-East Asia, New Zealand, Australia, United States, Ireland, South Africa, Canada and United Kingdom. The population has grown 110 times since Seoul became the capital of Korea. The sex ratio in the city is healthy with the number of women outnumbering the number of men. There are 5,173,266 women and 5,123,738 men in Seoul." |

Welcome to Korea. Indifference and self-absorption are integral cultural ingredients. But what simmers beneath can sometimes scare the pants off you. One thing you have to accept is how K-women value themselves. It's a complex mix of runway model coldness (even when they ain't purty) and little girl dreams. Then throw in a huge dash of family expectations and a culture that condemns independent thought and you've got something rather nasty growing there. |

You're demeaning yourself and your dignity (in her eyes as well as others) by openly pursuing someone who is already spoken for. You lose respect in the eyes of others. You will be seen as a relationship wrecker.
If she goes after you and finishes with her b/f ...then its fair enough though. |

Indeed. The only things he forgot to mention were nationalism and the whine. |

If you got a girl to cheat to go out with you... how could you trust her not to do the safe if you were her boyfriend.
Best to not do that. |

...he probably isn't concerned past getting laid.
Morality and getting laid do not make good bed-fellows.
It would be unwise to suggest that morality takes the superior position.
Certain people deal with circumstances as they arise...literally. Always have...always will. |
