Sgt. Pepper's because everybody wore out a copy at some point in their lives. Not everybody can say the same about Pink Floyd or Zeppelin, etc.
Not my personal favourite, however. |
It really depends on the mood. Are you getting busy with your special friend? Are you out beating the S&*$ out of a rental car? Perhaps trying to piss off your neighbors or you're looking to be artistic and get your juices creatively flowing?
Sometimes one song alone can be there for you and cover all these situations. Here's mine:

No offence taken.
It's a pity you couldn't recognize there are 3 musical breaks in that track, as well as the main repetitive tune.
It's called 'Robot and Roll' because of the deliberate repetitive nature of the tunes. It's a concept album. It's meant to be a bit tongue in cheek. I think my tunes sound like the stuff you'd hear in a movie, tv or even a commerical.
Nevertheless, 'Tuneful' is marvellous.
The 'artists' people have listed as all-time greats on this thread says it all. With such musical taste, it's unsurprising 'Bass Piano' won't be one of their favourites.
Overall, the album is fantastic. Each to their own, I can only say I love my tunes because I think they sound terrific. Not bad at all for a one-man band. |

I'm going to second a couple suggestions above.
Sgt. Pepper shook the music world with new possibilities.
Joni Mitchell's Blue introduced a new level of lyrical introspection. |

Long live the Queen.
(Incidentally....Who's Next (The Who) Graceland, (Paul Simon) and Dark Side of the Moon. Oh, I also love Springsteen. Oh, and Queen. In fact, bloody hell, who can choose? WHY choose? It's all good!) |

Many great picks that I would agree are some of the best of all time. In scanning through it seemed liked the '80's were under represented so I'll throw in a couple.
The Police - Synchronicity: The song Synchronicity II always creeps me out.
U2 - The Joshua Tree: great lyrics
And he's peeling off those dollars bills
Slapping them down, one hundred, two hundred,
And I can see the fighter planes
And I can see the fighter planes
or
She will...
Suffer the needle chill
She is running to stand
Like totally awesome. |

Most people will vote for Harvest because of its commercial success, but After The Gold Rush is a better concept album I think. |

I reckon Tonight's the Night is even better than that. |

I don't think anyone has said "Nevermind the bollocks here's the sex pistols."
For historical reasons, I can't be left off the list. Sometimes I really do want to be anarchy. Not often. But now and then - hells yeah. |

Get over yourself. A single theme repeated ad nauseum; perhaps when a montage is happening in an episode of My Three Sons, or some such trivial situation. Wank. Pure wank.

Agreed 100% |
It's little more than a simple 2 second riff banged out over and over and over with a couple simplistic three chord "breaks" entirely lacking in dynamics and any semblance of feeling. Conceptually it's weak. It's like someone saying "Hey, I got this great idea! Let's put peanut butter on white bread!"
However, I'm not one to disparage any music or musician who's trying.
It's got some potential. As recordings go, it's not too bad. Some extra instrumentation or dynamics could actually make it, if not good, at least listenable. The repetition is not dissimilar from some minimalist artists, but the total lack of progression keeps it from being anything interesting. For some better ideas maybe study some music history, or listen to something you might not normally listen to. |
