You could go more expensive, but I use a 27k won bottle of serum from Skin Food. It's got collagen, gold, and caviar, and works like a charm. Moisturizing is very important once you turn 25. Preventative care is key. I hardly ever wear make up, but this stuff keeps my skin perfect. I'm glad I didn't have to order the cream I was using from home. It cost a ton and shipping was ridiculous.

They make an eye cream version as well, but I usually just put a slice of cucumber on each eye at night for a few minutes. Clinique does make a decent under eye cream as well that isn't too costly.

Sounds pretty nice, maybe I'll give it a try. I do have to be honest, I find 27k still quite expensive Embarassed I really am in a very tight spot right now financially and to spend 27k on cosmetics is a lot for me Sad However, I agree about prevention and I'll be happy I started young when I'm older. So is that Caviar Skin Food serum also anti-wrinkle or just moisturizer or both? I read if you start the anti-wrinkle routine early, it apparently does help later on.

Also, how long does one bottle last you?

Btw, I saw a documentary back home once that showed there isn't actually a difference between the (super) high-end brands and the cheapest no-brand ones you can find in the supermarket (this was about anti-wrinkle stuff). They mostly use the same ingredients and none of the brands were proven to give better results than others. I thought this was interesting as so many people (myself included) tend to believe that the more expensive sth is, the better the quality/results must be.
Personally, I'm just not willing to spend that much on cosmetics, esp. when it's not proven it really prevents anything.

Nice thread though, I might visit the Skin Food store before I go home next month^^

The bottle lasts me about 2 months, so isn't too expensive. The smell is lovely too.

Some supermarket stuff is great. I use E45 creme from the UK and that stuff is super cheap, and a great lotion for my arms and legs, but on my face, I like to splurge a bit.

I second that: Thanks NYC_Gal for suggesting the Skin Food gold, caviar, and collagen serum. On your recommendation, I went out to get the serum and the eye creme duo pack (one bottle each for the undereye area and upper eyelids.) The serum is great because it isn't too greasy after applying and the gold specks add a nice glow.

I'm glad you like it. Most days I don't wear any make-up, and the serum plus a little sunblock is all that I wear.

14 minutes until my plane boards. Thank goodness for wifi and surfthechannel!

LOL! Laughing I'd take away the Red Ryder, too, but image is everything. Looking the best that I can and speaking English clearly pay the credit card bills.

I absolutely ADORE Laneige's multi-cleanser. I use it when I've worn makeup because it gets every single trace of it off and clears any blemishes I may have. But that's the only product I really like from Laneige...they also have a strawberry yogurt peeling gel that makes a good facial exfoliator. It smells delicious too!

For moisturiser I would recommend Hera. It's a high end brand in Korea, so it's more costly than Skinfood etc, but it's worth it IMO.

For any of you ladies with acne or skin problems, make sure to avoid any products with alcohol or sulfates in them. 99% if the time that is what's making your skin bad.

My ex-gf would spend like 500,000w every 2 months on skin care. 80,000w toner, 100,000w moisturizer, 60,000w sun cream, etc....

Craziness.

I learned more about women's skin care than I ever wanted too. The upside is I know what the ladies like. Makes buying gifts easy.

Check out just how toxic your (western)products are. Not sure if there are many Korean products here though.

Hmmm, great site but they don't seem to have any info on the products I buy.

I generally use Kiehl's everything, unless I get something as a gift. I like that they offer cleansers and moisturizers scent-free. I also like that they don't use gimick-y, silly packaging. I'd recommend Kiehl's, but the stuff is a bit pricey depending on your usage. I spend 55,000 won on spf 15 moisturizer that lasts upwards of 6 months for me.

EDIT
I looked up individual ingredients contained in the product I use and that worked, but the language his technical and I don't know much about chemistry...

I wonder how toxic those skin whitening creams are. Some ladies go overboard and start to look like bloodless corpses...and I should know, I used to work at a funeral home!

You mean those whitening products actually work? Question Koreans go to the beach all covered up and hide in tents.

I swear by clinique, but skin food has good stuff too, in terms of masques and the like. Any of the domestic makeup brands are great for color cosmetics though
.

I'm also a religious clinique user. But since I've been here, I've found the Skin Food products to be better cleanser than the 40,000 won clinique soap I used to buy. Actually Skin Food has become a bit of an obsession. I highly recommend the black sugar scrub and tea tree or seaweed foaming face wash.

I'd be careful about moisturizers here, as I'm sure many have already warned you. They're full of whitening solutions-- not so nice for westerners who actually like color.

That collagen and caviar serum is a pretty good moisturizer. Also, Bobbi Brown makes a fab moisturizing balm, either with or without tint. If you're a girl, go for the tint and skip foundation. Sure, there's hardly any coverage, but your skin will glow.
