The ref and linesmen were dire. The Korean commentators were trying to claim bias at one point, but it ended up being 50-50. As many crap calls went against Korea, as Uruguay.
The K defense dropped a massive bollock on the first goal. The goalie went flailing after thin air, and the ball was in the net before Lee Pyo Young knew what was going on. He should've been watching Suarez.
Korea's goal was pretty good. Lee Chung Young will be playing for someone better than Bolton next season.
Suarez's goal was pure brilliance. There wasn't much Korea could do about that one. He will definitely not be playing for Ajax next season. |

This is where Canadians take their first step on their path towards world basketball domination. |

Good run for Korea in this WC.
They played very well against Uruguay and were it not for that one horrible mistake by the Korean netminded in the first half this game could have gone another way.
That second goal by Suarez was a thing of beauty however. People I was watching the game with (koreans) were impressed.
Korea can go out with its head held high...they played well. |

| Korea played very well. If they had capitalized on two good chances in the 2nd half, they could well be in the quarters. |

My dad said Korea was attacking well but they lack the power to finish.
Urugual impressed me for the first 15 minutes and last 15 minutes of the game, but other than that, they got dominated on the field. They're either not that good, or lazy.
One thing for sure. Urugual used the most of their opportunities and Korea squandered many chances. I never thought Park Chuyoung was all that good. They put all their eggs in his basket and he failed to score on several opportunities.
I would respect the K soccer fans if they could just admit 'we played hard but got beaten by a better team.' I am dreading hearing the newest excuse or reason they got screwed. |

| The netizens are already in force, blaming the referee - rather than admit that they were undone fair and square. The truth is that their poor finishing let them down, whilst Uruguay took their chances. |

I was wondering about that too. After they scored that first goal, they just sat back and watched SK put on attack after attack. Kind of reminded me of the 2002 game vs Italy. Too bad Korea just can't finish the job whenever they have chances.
Uruguay almost seemed to be daring them to score a goal. But after getting scored on they quickly took the lead on an amazing shot. |

Korea played the better football over 90 mins but....
Uruguay should have been 3-0 up which would have killed off the game. After the first goal I believe it was wrong to rule Suarez offside when he was clean through after the Korean defender screwed up and they had a definite penalty claim after the Korean played raised his arm to block the shot.
That said, Korea had their chances to win the match but Park Ji Sung couldn't win the match for them single handedly. Lee Dong Guk should have scored when all he had to do was hit it anywhere except at the Keeper. |

I wonder cj, do you have links to those sites where the netizens are saying these things? |

| I was wondering when Homer would jump in on the defensive. I don't personally have the links, but I could ask my wife who reads all the regular Korean portals and blogs like Daum Cafe and Naver. In fact she was the one who told me what the netizens have been saying. |

There will be 31 countries with people on the internet blaming one thing or another for their team's departure.
Overall, Koreans are proud of their team and do not fault the ref, the ball, the conditions or anything else for the loss to Uruguay. If anything, I have been hearing form Koreans how they need to develop their defense to get more international experience on the back line. |

Speaking of referees...Germany got a very early Christmas present for the ages. I cannot fathom how they missed that goal! Un...be....lieve...able.
I'm pulling for Deutschland, but man. England haven't been this shafted since, well, 1986. |

It's usual for football fans all over the world to talk about refs' performance as part of their after-game comments.
Simple fact: netizens are not a single entity. There are various opinions. You can hardly find a (long enough) thread where you don't see many disagreements and arguments between netizens. I don't randomly scoop up some comments on this site and go around saying as if they are representative of the western expats. |

| Watching the Germany v England game. If only the Korean players could finish like the Germans, impressive. |

It didn't matter in the end. 4-1 Deutschland.
The better team won. |
