Just keep your expenditure constant and increase your income. Simple.

lol.
Seenykins. |
Just made some yogurt. Second batch from one of those little bottles of the "Pure" plain yogurt.
I make it in one of those coolers that the gmarket sellers send their chilled products in. It's a little big so I have to tip it on an angle so that I only have to boil 3L of water instead of 15L.
I make it in an 800ml mason jar which cost 1300won, plus a liter of milk at 2300 won. Not bad value, plus I know what's in it.
Does anyone know how long you can use the same "starter" for? |

A girl I knew in high school had a father who was a millionaire, but he would wear the same pair of socks until they had holes in them, and he would take a black marker and color his toe to cover it up. Another friend who makes a high wage takes the second bulb out of his refrigerator to save on electricity! Frugality is a fine thing, but if taken to extremes, what's the point in having lots of money if you never enjoy it?
But some little things just make you feel better for not being wasteful at minimal inconvenience. Something I do that's a little odd is that I like to drink a cup of hot water sometimes. It's frugal, I guess, but I like it. |

The district I'm from, in NZ, is way out in the back country. Some of the people that live there make the trip into town once a month at the most. The boom in dairy farming of the passed decade turned some of these half feral people into millionaires, over night.
One of them was especially infamous for his frugality, having worn the same coat for 15 years, and driven the same pick up truck for nearly 20. My father relayed to me this mans current condition. He is absolutely miserable because, although he makes $700 a week in interest alone, he has neither a farm nor nothing to spend the money on. After years of living on less than $100 a week, he lacks the imagination to even spend the money.
Apparently he is driving a new second hand truck, but still has the same coat. Go figure. |

Good stories.
One more-- I had a friend in dorm who thought he found a surefire way to save money on the dorm dryers. He told me, "Look at this! I put two quarters in a condom, slide them through, the dryer starts, and the quarters stay in the condom instead of falling into the machine! I saved fifty cents!"
Then I asked him how much the condom cost that he just scraped and tore in the coin slot. |

You have to ease into it.
I used to be the biggest cheapskate. (Check out my entries in previous threads!) I've eased off now and sometimes I even buy coffee in cafes and stuff. And pants that cost more than 10000 won! Amazing.
This thread sucks because the OP suggests reusing take-out coffee cups so they can be disposed of in public garbage cans. Hello?? Those cups cost 3500 each!! You'd better be getting more than one use out of them. |

Hehe, the only time I buy cafe style coffee is when PB has 1000won Americanos, or when my GF wants one of those fruity mocha frappa lattachinos with chocolate and cinnamon sprinkles (though I secretly like them). |

Well obviously he should use only used condoms. |

| When I was in uni the medical office gave out condoms. I volunteered for the AIDS task force and gave them out. I think most universities have similar programs. |

These were not the giveaway ones. But I wish I'd said that! "Why don't you try a used one? You probably only use them for thirty seconds or so..." |
