$2000 to work in Saudi? No thanks. $2800? Better, but, I guess the real question is this: how much much can you save at the end of one year? How many hours do you work? What are the accommodations like?

I say, "Still having a spot of bother with the comma-splice run-on sentence and teaching it in Saudi Arabia are you?"

I say, "bad show, old boy".

'Tis a very bad show, indeed.

Do you think that a single 40-something woman could survive a year there?

I'm also a Christian. Would I be able to find an ex-pat church?

The money, the ability to take my cat, and to find community with other Christians might make it livable, but I'm not really sure.

uh no. Although CHristians are permitted to work there temporarily, THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WORSHIP IN PUBLIC. It is 90% Muslim, why in God's name would you elect to wrok there (also being a woman) in the first place, no matter how much they pay? I would avoid working in the middle east Illy, it just aint worth it.

There are Christians in Saudi Arabia, but I don't know of any Churches.

I suspect the gentleman that has questioned my grasp of the English language may be a poster that was banned twice before on this forum.

I can save around $2,400 a month. All I pay for is my food, which is tasty but very cheap.

Just imagine how much money could be earned there by someone who can punctuate a sentence properly, and teach this writing skill to the Saudi youth!

Besides, perhaps, missing a second comma, what exactly is incorrect about his second sentence??

Next week, my contract in Saudi Arabia will end. Since last week, I've applied for a number of teaching jobs in Saudi. So far, 4 applications are being processed.

The problem is Saudi employers tend to take their time and they sometimes take too long. I had 2 so-called guaranteed jobs before the current job, and they never came to fruition. I'm now a little wary of 'guaranteed job offers'.

As a backup, on Friday night (South Korean time), I sent my CV to around 50 different S. Korean recruiters.

My skills and experience are now: a Bachelors Degree in Psychology, 2 years at a public elementary school in Gyeonggi, a TESOL certificate, and 9 months at university level in Saudi Arabia.

Anybody who knows me will remember I had many problems with my co-teachers in Korea. After 2 years at the same school, I transferred to another one. From May 2009 - September 2009.

I did a runner on that job. To keep it brief (for those who don't know the story), I told immigration and the school I left due to my divorce.

The school threatened to stop me from working in Korea again. After I contacted Korean immigration with my side of the story, the school contacted me to pay what was owed. I suppose immigration may have said something to the school, which made them change tack.

On my resume, I just talk about the 2 years at the first school, from May 2007 - May 2009. I omit the last school.

Any recruiter can contact my first school, they'd have to confirm I did 2 years there, the last co-teacher I worked with was ok.

Should I expect an avalanche of replies in my inbox tomorrow? It's Sunday evening here in S. Arabia.

If worst comes to worst, if after a reasonable period of time no jobs materialize from Saudi, I will choose Korea.

I am even open to hagwons this time. Desperation city? No, it's a case of practical city. I need income.

Could this be the long-awaited return of fromtheuk?!!! Laughing

Nice one FTUK Smile
I was actually thinking of coming back to Korea myself for the 2011 PS year. I've already got all my docs, except CBC. What does everyone think? Are there still lots of jobs to choose from in Korea?

3 hours teaching a day, it's early days but from what I can gather you stay on campus for a total of 4.5 hrs.

As part of a preliminary chat, today a coordinator asked if I was interested in becoming a coordinator. I gave a definite 'Yes'. He said the university may need another coordinator. He asked me if I was good at telling people what to do.

I told him I acted as a focal point for my last employer in Saudi Arabia, I also explained I like to be diplomatic, but firm.

I'd like to just sit around all day and look like I'm busy. It would be less work than teaching and perhaps, more enjoyable. Laughing

Check out the international job board on this site, there are some high paying jobs available in Malaysia right now.

Haha. I would go to Korea as well.

So you had a really bad, bad experience in Korea and yet you want to come swanning right back. Confused

Why wouldn't they renew you in Suadi? Wasn't it all it was cracked up to be?

I'd avoid hagwons. If you didn't like PS then you're going to hate hagwons (as I remember it, you were a lazy sod)
