Iran is extremely anti-homosexual and brutal - Saudi Arabia arguably even more so. Still, I think it's bizarre for you to tell me to get real when you clearly haven't read my posts properly. If you had, I would posit that you would not have come to the conclusion that I was arguing that Saudi Arabia is less brutal than Iran - and that's before we get onto the goofy stuff about US military sales to the theocracy, a discussion I was not having.

And oil-rich auto/kleptocracies like Nigeria are still in business. |
Oh, I think I get it. You somehow equated my criticism of Iran with support of US military sales to despotic regimes and their anachronistic embargo of Cuba. I don't think you have thought this through at all have you? Now, I invite you to go back and actually read what I was saying, because making yourself look stupid is a habit you might want to break. |

| So why doesn't the US pull out of Korea in a fit of pique? Ha ha. Because they want to be here. And dead bodies don't mean a thing when politicians are thinking about long-term political, military, and economic strategy. |
It's worth noting that Korea's industrialists and financiers oppose US troop withdrawals too - not to mention much of the Korean public - because they worry that such a move would hurt Korean markets and make foreign investors jittery. Sure, a cynical mind is somewhat healthy, but the US has to take these things into account when scaling back its presence in Korea.

Really? That's news to me! When did the US sell $60 billion of military hardware to Saudi Arabia?

When the US talks of freedom of democracy, it doesn't mean trying to put kleptocracies out of business. Unless you're advocating regime change, in which case, no, we can't afford it, thank you. |

Technically speaking the hardware has not been sent yet. But the deal has been signed. Congress still has to approve it...but apparently the deal is expected to pass.
But yeah they haven't actually delivered the goods yet. |
