well, the motivation might be the same, but i dont think in reality it is. It is one thing for a women to sun tan, but i dont think u can compare that to a more radical surgery like breast implants.

Another example is Michael Jackson. There has always been arguements that he is taking medication to lighten his skin. It is a medical procedure unrelated to suntanning. I think the real difference is the need for a specialist to perform the procedure.

Gee that wasn't insulting to asians at all...noooo, of course not, it was a 'joke' or 'sarcasm'.

Quick reply (and just as funny) from an asian person could be:
Not to be pedantic, I think I might have lipo insertion to make myself nice and plump so I fit better in Western nations where plump is considered quite acceptable

Why is it insulting when they do find it cute?
And if asian people DID have fat insertion in western countries they would fit right in, no arguments here. They don't need to though as the process happens quite naturally with exposure to western diet.

ive always taken it as to look more like the upper class..ie whiter skin means one doesnt work in the fields/manual labor. theres other ethnicities that do it as well. darker is badder.

ha. i remember when i got here in the 90s some ajusshi told me Kguys like small breasts. I cant believe the surgeries they do here nowadays. pubic hair ftw

that's what my mom usually said when protesting this year's tan (I tan very quickly and easily) and going for a prophylaxis attempt for the next. Something about high class and etc.

and like many "old school" ...people (it seems to apply to every ethnicity), they're super racist/class conscious

What you notice about these old threads is the old posters are no longer here.

Ok, i think i will comment on this one as well. I will start with a question. If someone lets say from the US suntanned in their back yard wouldnt they become darker? How is your skin naturally darkening to protect you from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun "trying to look like someone from a hotter climate?" As for sun beds, alot of my friends use them just before travelling to ensure their skin would be ready for the extreme temperature change, and thus protecting their skin over a period of time instead of burning their skin when they frist arrive. Just a though.

I think those KOs are taking their toll. I can't agree with this post at all, I suspect your friends who are trying to 'protect their skin' are more likely lying to hide their vanity. The major reason white people tan is to look darker because there's a stigma about having white skin
