For future reference: if you get your CBC from Disclosure Scotland, they'll notarise it for free! You just have to get in touch once you've applied for it and they'll put a 'note' onto your case. |

| Any solicitor can certify that a document is geniune/a geniune copy, and that's all you need for the apostille. There's millions of solicitors, just go to a different one if the one you talked to seems adamant you need a Notary Public (which you don't). |

I called the FCO today and a gentleman informed me that it can be a solicitor OR a notary public.
So I'm getting it done tommorow, just down the road from me, �5/7.

Yes, this makes sense, because the guy I spoke to at the FCO asked me if my 'Disclosure Scotland' Certificate was signed. |

| I got my original disclosure check certified as an original by a solicitor, before sending it off to the FCO. |

You can send the original but it must be notarized. |
