The idea of checking them at the "door" is good.
The child can only go to with his/ her book bag containing only those things essential for class:
Books.
Pens.
Pencils.
Notebook.
Erasers.
All non-essentials will be checked and returned at the end of the school day. |

Nope. During school hours it's loco parentis. |
I'm all for kids turning off phones in class, or leaving them with the teacher during the lesson, but banning students from travelling to and from school with their phones, thats getting into dangerous territory,
Imagine if a student just leaving school needs to call an ambulence? or a girl leaving a hogwon at 10pm at night is followed and harrased? |

Well we got by with a lot of things in the past, DVDs, cars etc,
People got by without planes 100 years ago, doesn;t mean I wanna catch the boat home
Banning phones in a class is one thing, banning kids carrying them to and from school is a draconian messure  |

my heart bleeds for the poor human rights that are being displaced by not having handphones in class. When you enrol kids at school you agree to certain rules, like dress codes etc. if a school has a reason to ban a phones because they are causing disruption that's fine by me. |

Have a check in service in the office.
Zero tolerance on ringing phones or in class usage.
Banning? What about movie theaters? |

I like this idea. When the kids are engaged, they want to learn more. |
