Democrats/Republicans.........two sides of the same coin.

Though, I will say there is a definite difference between todays Democratic Party vs.....50 years ago.

Why would I be sarcastic about that? Stewart is frequently heavily biased towards Democrats and liberalism; this time it was just especially obvious.

That's not to say I don't enjoy watching him embarrassing O'Reilly during his Factor visits; that never fails to entertain.

But he spent the entire time making fun of the democrat. He has spent the last week making fun of the guy. I am not sure what you expect?

But according to news reports, at least seven House Democrats, plus a number of Republicans, have called on Weiner to step down. According to one Democratic congressman, who talked to CNN on condition of anonymity, others in the party are working behind the scenes to coax him out the door.

Anyone want to make a bet on how many days it will be before Rep. Weiner resigns? He's taken a 'leave of absence' from Congress (I didn't know you could do that) and gone into rehab of some sort. I'm guessing under two weeks.

About that Chris Lee instant resignation thing. Did you know there was a bigger bombshell that got muffled by the quick resignation? It appears the representative was also into finding transexuals and cross dressers on-line. http://www.slate.com/blogs/blogs/weigel/archive/2011/06/08/chris-lee-didn-t-just-resign-over-a-shirtless-photo.aspx

I have to say that I'm more than a little disappointed in the people who are calling for Wiener's resignation who haven't also called for Vitter's. After all, Vitter actually broke some laws. (Yes, I agree Wiener should resign--because he's a political distraction.)

I want Wiener to resign because I think he's an attention-*beep* dilletante. I don't think his misconduct rises to the level of dismissal. Lee sounds like a typical GOP hypocrite. What is the law he broke? Solicitation?

Yeah. From what I read, Vitter solicited sex by phone while on the floor of the House. He also solicited when he was back home in Louisiana. It's illegal there, too. You would know more about this than I would--is there a law anywhere against having sex while wearing diapers? (because of your legal background, not any personal proclivities--I thought I should clarify that).

As far as I know, Lee didn't break any laws. He just tippy toed out before an even bigger scandal broke.

Weiner made a big mistake. I am not sure he should resign. He should seek therapy as he is doing. He needs to reflect on his errors. He didn't break any laws that I can think of...I don't like what he did. You just shouldn't go around putzing as if you're some gigolo when you're a congressman. I am not here to trash the man. I hope he gets better.
He didn't claim to be a born again Christian, and he is not an Orthodox Jew preaching about family values and how we all need to be holy. I say forget about it.

I want the overwhelming majority of the American media to resign. They've become a distraction.

*chuckle*

Yes, even Jon Stewart has shown himself to be slavish to the whims of scandal.

Since the early 80's there has been a distinct conservative bias in the media, so yes, I endorse your call for the majority of the media to resign. A case in point is this one. Everyone knows who Anthony Weiner is. How many know who Ensign or Vitter are?

What?? Outside of Fox News, the only possible media bias one could find would be liberal. If you define media as news media. If you define media more broadly, to include movies, then there's absolutely a undeniable liberal bias.

(This is not one of my hobbyhorses; I'll just note that Ya-Ta brought it up)

Check out the Sunday morning political shows for a few weeks and keep track of the guest list--you'll see what I mean. Why would anyone include movies as part of the media unless it was to drag in the old anti-Hollywood stuff? Of course I was talking about news media. Although I wasn't including movies I was including radio and all the vile shock jock stuff Rush and his in-bred cousins spew.

Oh please. This kind of stuff happens just as much in the GOP, if not more.

I find it odd that a guy named "Boehner" is calling on "Weiner" to resign. Is it just me? (Yeah I know how Boehner is really pronounced, but still...)
