| So I've got 4 complete years of verifiable employment on my ARC and starting my 5th and left the country for 5 months this year. Since my 5th year started in September, I'll need to wait until Feb. of '13 to be eligible? |

Bump this up a bit.
I may have 5 verifiable years of contract fulfillment under my belt but I'm scratching my head on the sponsorship thing.
It feels like if you are signing your life over to someone via a sponsor wouldn't this in a way make you their endentured servant? Why can't we professionals just get the visa on work experience and merit alone. |

Try this one instead.

No sponsor required if you meet the criteria. Don't even need to be here 5 years. |

Here's another way:

| Quote: |
| Residency through real estate investment will be tested on Jeju Island from next month. Expatriates who invest more than $500,000 in local real estate will be granted F-2 status and acquire permanent residence or F-5 status after residing in Korea for five years. |

| Is an F2-99 the same as the F2-S visa I've heard so much about? |

When I submitted my F5 application, they took both my passport and ARC card.
You CANNOT TRAVEL WHILE YOUR APPLICATION IS BEING PROCESSED.
Should you want to, your F5 application will get cancelled. You will then have to re-apply at a later date.
Trust me, I tried. |

F2-1 (Married to a Korean)
F2-3 (Married to a permanent residency holder i.e. someone with an F5 Visa)
F2-99 (5 years on an E2 Visa)
F2-7 / F2-S (Point based F2)
It doesn't matter how you obtained an F2 Visa (above). At the end of the day an F2 is an F2.

Agreed!. You cannot travel without cancelling the visa application. The immi lady told me that it can take from 4 to 6 months. I applied for it in June and I hope to get it by next month ... |

| Welshguy and whoever else has got an F5 or an f2, did your tax rate change? Do you have to pay the same tax rate as Koreans or still the teaching E2 rate? |

Same tax rate. That is 3.3%.
It will, however, increase should you earn over W25 000 000 I believe. |

Collected my wife's F2-3 Visa yesterday . Immigration only gave her a 1 year Visa.
Consistent with their policy of "first F2 Visa gets 1 year, thereafter 2 - 3 years."

Congrats man. How often do you need to renew your F5?

Never. F5 is permanent residence. |
