i Tab browse and actually use Opera > Mozilla which many prefer, why? because i prefer Opera and at least this is a way to help those who still use Browsers w/out Tabs
|
I use Opera too and feel that it is the best browser for tabs. Though, thanks to me being exiled to the teacher's lounge today I am forced to type this on Internet Exploder. Boo.
I guess your post confirms one thing- Opera is one kick butt browser. Tabs or no tabs, it does it well.

Thats kind of the point, if these Ads arent for me? And IF there was a way around them, most would choose to avoid them
|
Well I, the advertiser, care about the masses, not an individual.

| dont use YouTube very rarely now because of their Ads |
Well then, what's so bad? Are you feeling that you are really missing out on something?

On the Internet, its all about being number 1 or very near it or they will fade to non-existentread this in-depth article in Bloomberg Business (in paper form so you can count this as my time away from the internet) about MySpace and how something that was beating Facebook, is now nothing more than an afterthought for most
|
For now. But things change. That's the great thing about the internet. It's very respondent to desires for change.

| Facebook IS like a monopolyhonestly how many people you know still use MySpace or Friendster or even as far back as AOL? Almost no one unless you want to feel like a social outcast or nostalgic over good times gone by |
People said AOL was a monopoly. Same with Yahoo and Internet Explorer and that Apple was dead and so on.

If your as gullible as to think that when your Account closes, its gone foreveryoure highly mistaken
Just look at this quick Top Nine list:
1. Google's immortal cookie: Google was the first search engine to use a cookie that expires in 2038
2. Google records everything they can
3.Google retains all data indefinitely
4. Google won't say why they need this data
5. Google hires spooks
6. Google's toolbar is spyware
7. Google's cache copy is illegal
8. Google is not your friend
9. Google is a privacy time bomb: With 200 million searches per day, most from outside the U.S., Google amounts to a privacy disaster waiting to happen

Have fun with my private info. They can find my posts about me ranting on Dave's ESL and raving about whether the Pistons should have traded Chauncey Billups. In between that they might find some more sordid stuff such as the Japanese porn sites or illegal mp3 downloads.
I take comfort in the fact that for the porn- who are they going to release that to that will care? And as for the illegal mp3s, fortunately so many people have committed this crime that the justice system would be buried in complaints if they ever decided to do more than make random examples of people.
Heck, you can see how much I care about privacy as I've revealed the two most potentially damaging things I do.
If I really cared about privacy I'd go to ye olde porno store and buy some VHS video while wearing one of thoe Korean hospital masks. That and I'd DL my mp3z at a PC bang.

I know Naver and Daum are big in Korea, but worldwide, numbers by users, by site traffic, etc. etc. Google usually sees about two, three times other sitesagain look at Alexa, numbers dont lie

The point is that effective alternatives exist and you are free to use them.

Example. Wanna do some Banking? Online v. going all the way to the Bank
Need a receipe? Need directions? Worried about some medical condition? Looking for that new hit song/hit show/etc. etc. INTERNET owns in all categories
Turning off your computer is not a rational solution, how long do you honestly think you would last w/out technology? Or let me put it this way, remember how long it used to take to connect to the Internet on 56K Modem w/all that crappy buzzing, beeping, etc. etc.

I dunno, how did I manage to live during the 80s and up into the mid 90s?
How did the human race manage to live for the past 100,000 years?

I agree with you, life is A LOT better now and we live in an age our Grand Parents never could have imaginedI mean think how far we will advance by the time the next generation is our age

Technologically, yes. Mentally? No.

Yeah but YouTube at its core, is about individual users posting up individual interests that other identify withyou can literally see someone w/the same interests as you the world overfor good or bad

I for one do not ascribe much of a philosophy to websites. They are tools of their creators. Some creators stick to a vision. Others cash in. Good for them. I haven't done diddly poo to create or maintain youtube. Let those who did decide what should be done with it.

| know what your saying and getting away from technology is good but only so far, Phone, no way it just makes life easier |
I love tech and I love being a Luddite. I just make sure that no piece of technology gets ahold of me that I freak out if something goes wrong.
If the power goes out I don't have a conniption. I don't scream at the power company. I light a candle and open up a book and enjoy the time for what it offers.
(Hint) This may kind of attitude towards things may be why I'm an apologist...

Mmm. So maybe you have some illegal stuffs on your HD right?
30 second ads are a small price to pay. We should consider what the internet has given us, or rather, what we have taken from it (to paraphrase John Hurt in 'Contact') in consideration of our attitudes of righteousness.
Consider, 50 years ago in order to have music at my house I would have actually had to go out and pay money to the artist and the record company. Now I can avoid that step and illegally download it. Only fair then that youtube throws up an ad. Especially on a youtube page run by a record company. |
