OP I can now say this based on your recent posts:
YOU ARE AN IDIOT!!!
why?
1) You took that apartment, you could have told your boss, this wont work, walked out, gotten a hotel and told them if you dont clean the place by X day I'm leaving, it sounds like you have been here a while and know better, you let your &^ck lead you because of your gf
2) You took a job that refuses to pay pension and health insurance despite NUMEROUS posts here that tell you its illegal to do so. to ignore that and gripe about it here is idiotic |

Bargain-basement flooring for a small place = 300,000.
A small fridge = 150,000
Cleaning ajummas = 100,000.
A quick check of craigslist and dave's for moving away sales every so often should land you some reasonably-priced items that are in much better shape than the ones you have now. (many of these will also be free, if your timing is right)
So, for about a week's pay, you can set yourself up pretty nicely in your place for at least a year - something which is not completely unreasonable, imo. If you were really nice about it, you could probably get your boss to pay for some/all of it - since it's possible he would just pass some of the costs (ie flooring) off to the owner of the place.
Considering the cost and effort of finding a new job, leaving your old job, getting your criminal background check, etc, etc - I think it's pretty much a wash, especially since you seemed to have been getting along with everyone at work otherwise. |

For Duncan is a bedwetter (weewees in his bed)
I simply won't believe that you do exactly the same. |

Soooo? What happened OP?
My guess, since we haven't heard, is he was locked up in a mental institute for thinking he would get a dime from the hagwon owner. |

| Its just common courtesy that you don't leave your place a disgusting mess. It may not be in the contract, but some things go unsaid. However, I think it defiantly falls on the hakwon director should have made sure the place was at least presentable. I don't know how he/she walked this poor sap into his apartment and said "Enjoy". At the very least he could have given him a can of bug spray to go along with it. However, anyone who cares so little for their employee who just flew half way around the world to come work here to give them such a disgusting place and then deny cleaning it for them is an ass and would not be someone I would work for! |

What??? What about some basic human decency? I think we may have found this Duncan guy. OP I hope that you get your accomodation sorted, I assume you have the good sense to ignore the less considerate replies here. |

So, let's figure out who this Duncan character is. Original poster, do you happen to work for Anyang Wonderland school? We got a Duncan here from British Columbia:

I have been playing Clue a lot on the computer, so I feel like a real detective now |
From looking at the picture, I can't imagine someone who wears a nice suit could live in a place that was described by the OP.
Of course, from looking at the job history, I could definitely see it.
I'm not sure. More information is needed. Somebody link with him. |

Or call +82-31-465-0533 (Anyang Wonderland)
Ask for "Mr. Lanoville" and see if they say, "Oh you mean, Duncan? He no longer works here." |

Did Duncan leave on bad terms and trash the place?
I think adult bedwetting would put a crimp in ones dating life. Can you imagine what's being said about him on that 'Korean women who date foreigners' website? This man deserves our sympathy. |

I would've gotten someone to clean the apartment on day 1, no later than day 2. The fact you sat on your behind and did nothing shows you are lazy.
The only thing I am reading in your post is excuses and finger pointing. It seems like you are doing all the wrong things and refusing to find a solution that would be agreeable to everyone. You are just thinking about yourself and expect else (your boss, gf, coworkers) to bend over backwards for your sake.
If your place was so filthy and uninhabitable, then why don't you get professional cleaners to clean it? A brand new super-single bed with frame can be bought on GMarket, DELIVERED, for like $80.
The total cost for making your apartment clean with a new bed would've been like $300. That amount, your hagwon boss would pay. But no, you want to be Mr. Badass and demand 3.3 million while trying to get everyone's sympathies on here. |
What did you do on your first(or second) day upon arrival besides nothing? I'm sure you would've known exactly what to do in a country that doesn't speak your language and after a long flight aye? I thought the OP made it clear he didn't sit on his butt, but I guess you have a different definition of lazy?
What sort of deliveries or 80.000 Won purchases did you arrange/make from GMARKET or elsewhere upon your first day in S. Korea?
Did you even know about GMARKET before you arrived in S. Korea? Tool! |

| This. At my last hakwon job my director tried to pull something like this as well. Not only was it absolutely filthy, but the washing machine was outside, (no room for it inside) which meant any water in the exposed pipe would freeze in the winter making it unusable. |
You clearly aren't very innovative or able to figure out an easy way around this aye? |
