Secret.
They don't NEED to import in all these "native" English speakers!
But I suppose they're slowlyyyy realizing that.. |
Which Philippino island are you from?
You do realize this is a (primarily) "native" English speaking website - The ESL part of the domain name was how I figured it out. It wasn't easy though, I'll give you credit. I wonder if there is a Chinese version of a troll like you i.e. some Chinese guy that posts on native Chinese forums about whether Western countries NEED "native" Chinese teachers. I guess you guys are quite common in the world sadly. |

Here is an example of it's Korea. I am staying at a motel though I paid key money for an apartment. Why? I wanted to put a bed in yesterday, but the owner told my realtor he wanted to paint. In the end, he didn't.
I had given him the key yesterday. Then, when I go to pick it up, I call him, and he tries to explain he wants the key tomorrow to make a copy. He had the key all day yesterday and most of the day before that when I met him. He couldn't do it, then? And I got told by my realtor that the painting was going to be delayed until next week some time. Then, she wakes me up at 7 a.m. something about the paining guys are at the apartment. I was pissed. I need my sleep. I end up locking the phone I got from another foreigner and hitting the lock instead of vibrate button because I don't want to be disturbed so early. No one calls me that early. This is not the way to do business. This stuff doesn't happen in America or the West. If you say you're gonna paint tomorrow, then do it. Don't say you couldn't that day, and say you're going to do it next week, then call me. I am not amused, really.
Now, I have to mess with unlocking this phone...I need that phone while waiting for my ARC. |
Par for the course. After a month, I still don't have gas aka hot water. ondol. stove in my new place because "Chuseok messed up their schedule". |
I assumed Adventurer posted in the wrong thread there.......what has any of this got to do with the topic? |
No, mate, it fits. It fits with the whole idea that the OP mentioned when people say "Well, it's Korea". I was kind of annoyed that the landlord
said he wanted to paint yesterday, and didn't. Then, he tells the realtor it will be next week. Meanwhile, I haven't moved in because I haven't had a chance to put a bed in. I have to work, and messing with a landlord wanting this and that is something I have no time for...... The landlord told the realtor yesterday they would reschedule the painting for next week. Anyway, I gotta call at 7 a.m. this morning asking me to go to the apartment, they're going to paint today is what they decided. The realtor asked if I could show up. I said no, I am staying in bed. He found another key and is painting, so it will be fine. |

There are some good things and bad things about Korea. Some of them are subjective, while some are objective. Some examples:
I never thought of cutting meat with scissors before I came to Korea. It's quick and effective and i'll probably be doing it all the time when I move back home.
I don't like how many Koreans shower by using the shower head in 1 hand. Most hotel/motel bathrooms I've been to don't have a place to attach the head to the wall for hands free showering.
Korea has a fantastic mass transit system that puts every city I've been to in the US to shame. It is objectively superior (at least to Boston's mass transit).
Korean driving law punishes driver who are not at fault in accidents (sometimes greatly depending on income disparity). Punishing innocent parties is objectively bad according to standards of justice.
While some of the complaints I've seen come off as racist garbage, some seem to have a fair amount of merit. Considering the experiences of myself and others, I rate Adventurer's gripe as pretty legit. |

| If the word "retarded" bothers you then that's your issue and you should keep it to yourself or get therapy. You're being a retard by thinking that anyone cares about your menial complex. |

It's the internet. People speak blithely all the time. In all countries and in all languages.
Korean netizens anyone? If there's a more nasty and destructive bunch of internet users than those guys then please point them out to me. |
youtube.com
Makes netizens look like a picnic. |
It's a bit different.
While it's true there's a lot of nastiness on Youtube, there is however the disable comments function if you want the idiots to go away.....from your video at least.
But the netizens have caused, or at least significantly contributed to, quite a few high-profile cases where people's lives have been ruined and even led to suicide with chat-room gossip.
I'd certainly believe that somebody at sometime might feel that Youtube comments could ruin their life.......but I see it actually happen at least twice-yearly in Korea these days. |
Go read the yahoo comments whenever a black or Hispanic man dies. Korean netizens are proper English gentlemen in comparison.
While it doesn't often get much press, cyber-bullying in the U.S. results in several suicides a year. This kid would be a recent example:
