Before Kim YonA came along there was zero interest in figure skating. Now its broadcast on prime time tv. Once she retires and there is no longer a Korean replacement there will be zero interest again. Same with soccer. The British clubs that Korean support are the ones with Korean players. The players change clubs so does the loyalty. No Korean F1 driver=no interest.

Somebody was interested, otherwise Kim Yun-A would have never taken up figure skating.

Unless that reply was a joke (it is very difficult to tell on the Internet) I think the point was about the general public having no interest.

It never helped that the Koreans ran the race like your typical hakwon...

Exactly. The whole showpiece of ineptitude, cancellations and last-minute changes was very familiar.

Also in breaking News: Bernie ecclestone complains that the Koreans have broken the contract and are refusing to pay the promised fee. The drivers have been put up in shared love-motel rooms and some were not collected at the airport.

2 things need to happen:

1) need a korean driver/team/something slightly korean to get behind (since koreans go nuts as long as they have some national pride at stake)

2) the promoter needs to play up the Korea-Japan rivalry. like maybe bribing some japanese officials to change the name of their home GP to the Dokdo Grand Prix

boom. all the fortune from loaded ajosshi's with more money than sense will proceed straight into bernie's pockets.

Absolutely.

Get one of the japanese drivers to say he hates korean food beforehand.

Pan the cameras to show one of the korean race girls taking too long to kiss the winning foreigner after the race.

I mean it wouldn't take much imagination to put the ratings into the stratosphere.

Haha nailed. The only way to save the race is to attack it. Have a story leaked that the world laughs at the 3rd world Korean race and see what happens. But surely, minus Korean interest in drivers and the like, they only way to succeed is go toe to toe with Japan.

That love motel story is toe curling if true though.
