It's not a question about bailing. Its about being a man and being responsible. It was his responsibiltiy to see exactly where he was going to be living and to know exactly the distance from the school. Now its his responsibility to inform the school he is quiting according to his contract. If school was screwing him over, I would say differently, but I dont see that.

I don't usually bother giving my opinion re. anything on this board.

I primarily use this board to get advice from people; in particular Ttompatz. I wouldn't bother coming on here at all if he didn't post here to be honest.

Why are people so judgemental all the time?

This guy's decision does not effect me at all and I really fail to see how it effects any of the other people denigrating him for a decision he wants to make re. his own life. His actions reflect on him; not on the native English teaching community over here.

He is an individual like the rest of us entitled to make his own decisions re. his own life.

Give the guy a break.

If one of your friends confided in you that they were thinking of pulling a runner, Im sure you would be a lot more supportive of him/her and not remind them of their responsibilities re. their fellow English teachers in Korea.

Personally, I think 25 minutes isn't such a big deal; I commute an hour 40 minutes to my job in Suwon but I don't know the guy from Adam.

I don't know or understand the circumstances of his situation. None of us here do.

This guy should do what's best for him; not what's best for the native English teaching community in Korea (whatever that is.)

Head for the hills if your not happy my man! Don't worry about what the people on here think. Do what's best for you!

Quit. Don't run. Quit.

Say you aren't happy with your situation. Hand in your notice. Don't cause a fuss or a scene. Get you LOR and find a new job.

You aren't happy with your job. So what? Enjoying your work is a luxury only a few of us have. Don't let the bastards grind you down.

Running should be preserved for people who are getting screwed by their employers, or just can't take it anymore.

I think the way your girlfriend was treated was appalling. It sounds like you aren't happy with your job. But people who do runners suffer much worse. You can't stay. But don't pull a runner. Quit, and if they are reasonable you should get a LOR. Only pull a runner if you want to get out of Korea and not come back for a while.
