If everyone calls their congressman to get their FBI check expedited wouldn't that defeat the purpose? It would no longer be expedited, it would be normal.

The first flaw in that logic is that not everyone gets an FBI check in order to come to Korea.

The concept of "normal" is actually slow now, that is why things need to be expedited. Think of this like traffic, if big trucks are in front of smaller cars that could go faster, that backs up traffic terribly.

If you create a left lane for the smaller cars to drive faster (expediting), then those cars get to where they want faster and traffic is not backed up.

In the end, it's a better "normal".

True true...

However, if you put too many cars in this expedited lane it would still be rush hour. Also, this expedited lane isn't only full of Kia's and Hyundai's. There are other reasons to request your FBI background check expedited.

Either way, I was just attempting to save some people time and money by putting the "absolutely necessary" caution on the post. Obviously I have no bearing on whether people do it or not.

We are a long ways away from ESL teachers clogging the bureaucratic system.

How many teachers are in Korea? 10,862 according to 2004 statistics posted at http://korea.wikia.com/wiki/Facts_about_the_ESL_industry_in_Korea

I can't find a page for FBI checks, but gun owners need one and this site is reporting 102,222 background checks http://articles.cnn.com/2011-12-27/us/us_record-gun-sales_1_gun-sales-gun-dealers-gun-sports?_s=PM:US

"Almost half a million checks were done in just the last six days before Christmas." Shocked Shocked

Are you telling me we need to wait alongside these gunslingers before we get away from them?

Not me. Expedite me please Laughing
