| I'm so thankful I chose the private sector back in 2007. I did it because it paid 100,000 more a month (at the time), and there were less hoops to jump through to get the job. I didn't realize at the time what a fortuitous decision that was. |

| My school said they can keep me for one final year but I might leave and might head to Japan where I always wanted to be anyway. I got a great location, apartment and coworkers, if plan B fails I might regret it.... |

Unrelated to this post.. thanks for your reply to my post about coming to Korea with my family. I was unable, as a newbie to send you a private message. A million thanks to you for swimming upstream and not being a naysayer. I will definitely look at other countries/forums and repost. Korea was appealing as it covers fencing and martial arts (what our kids practice.)
Best of luck to you, too! |

Perhaps as baffling to them that foreigners can spend years on end in Korea and not speak Korean...to other foreigners. |
It would be.... if they were paid money to teach foreigners Korean. In my experience of language learning, I learned much more quickly when being taught in the language that I was studying. There is a lot to be said for learning things in context. Also, I know that learning a language depends on personal motivation but speaking and listening skills are more difficult to develop on your own. |
