I hate cheapskate a**wipes. The world is full of them. If you want something, just frikkin' pay the price for it.

True, and I don't know about Korean haggling culture, but in some haggling cultures you really do get dramatic and act insulted until one person walks away and then all of a sudden it's "wait my friend, where are you going? Come back habibi." That would be interesting, are classified sales expected to be haggled about in Korea? What is the haggling culture here?

In my experience, they usually ask for a discount first and then agree on a price before meeting. Don't know if that's standard but it makes sense to me and avoids potential hassle.

I think it's fair to ask for a discount, but don't try to tell me it's "Korean culture" when the WHOLE WORLD knows about discounts and asks for them regularly.

These guys were on thin ice anyway, calling me at 4a.m. to ask about the item, so I was in no mood to give them a break after that, especially when the item (not even available in Korea or over double price if special ordered) was already at an amazing price. I almost cancelled the deal just based on their attitude alone after the way they yanked the item from me before even paying for it, and all the staring and dumb comments "Oh, you rich man!"

So youre selling a used crappy bed for 60 000 less than the original price. How much is delivery? About that much. That means might as well by your shitty bed new. I think you should be lucky you don't have to pay to throw it away. You're wrong. Lowball ers are right. Long live the lowballer.

Well, you can't expect to get much for used stuff, generally. You shouldn't necessarily to get more 50% of what you paid for something. That's way it works.

The irony is that the OP is insulting the only group that would even consider buying a used bed/mattress. Koreans (and a lot of foreigners) would be lucky to give that stuff away, and consider it one step away from the trash heap. Look around the recycling area in your apartment complex and you'll see what I mean.

I don't understand how people can complain about the market. It is what it is. Some things just don't retain value as much as other things and people don't all have the same ideas about value. Some things people would rather buy new. Some things are not necessities and people are willing to buy them only if they are very affordable. If you're upset that something you think is worth 200 dollars is only getting 50 dollar bids, I've got some more bad news. You might also make a joke that you think is funny but no one else laughs. You might view yourself as an 8 but others view you as a 6. People have different viewpoints and different values. Agree to disagree. You think you're getting low-balled? Don't sell it to that person, but there's no need to get upset about it. If everyone is low-balling you, then guess what? No one is low-balling you. You're asking more than the market value.

Given some of the economic idiocy on this thread and the concepts about how an open-market works, its no wonder so many countries around the world are in terrible economic shape.

"I deserve xxx dollars for this used item." WTH? You don't deserve diddly-poo, the market is not about "deserving" its about what people are willing to pay for it.
"People should want to buy this because I'm selling it" People also want o buy beer and your half bottle of ketchup is competing against their beer dollar. Who do you think wins that battle?
"I should be able to buy high-priced items and then flip them at a moment's notice for near-original price". What in the world caused that fail of thinking?
"I should be able to dictate the time and place when a transaction takes place and people are obligated to be there" Location, location, location.

This on top of the general tight-waddery we see on Dave's. These are probably some of the same people who are going berserk over the 200 won increase in subway rates and got to a restaurant and order a $10 plate of food but won't order a $2 coke because somehow their budget relies on those 2 bucks.

What the heck are they teaching kids in school these days? Its enough to turn one into Lou Dobbs.

Steel Rails summed it up pretty well----

Wonder if the OP ended up accepting the 50 bucks, or if he ended up having to pay 20 bucks out of his own pocket to have the bed disposed of....... Guess we'll never know!

OP here. First of all, I never said anything about DESERVING anything. I was simply stating that I was asking a certain amount for something and that people had the balls to offer such a low price. Second, the item that I was selling was NOT a piece of crap like some people have stated (it was barely used, no stains, no visible wear, etc.). Third, I completely understand that the market is what it is. I was simply making a comment about how annoying it is and how absurd some foreigners are with what is essentially a "rape and pillage" kind of attitude. Fourth, I am by no means a "tight wad" and I resent the fact that someone would assume that I am the same as "those kind of foreigners" who whine and complain about losing out on every last baek won for whatever stupid reason. Fifth and finally, the owner of the apartment bought the bed from me for 100,000 to keep in the apartment for the new tenant.

So there you have it folks. Continue to attack me and call me ridiculous for letting off a little steam, and enjoy being condescending !$@-wipes like usual.

So what, I'm supposed to offer 50% over what I can get the item for (an item of limited utility) just so I'm not a jerk and to make you happy? And you're calling me selfish?

I can offer you any amount of money I feel like. If you don't like the price, you don't have to sell. Or maybe, just maybe, you can make a counter-offer.
