Serena is cute lol.
My CBC was mailed out about the same time but I f'd it up because I lost my credit card card and ordered a new one. I'm hoping they either charged it or didn't charge it yet so maybe I can fax a new form.
I won't have everything until Nov so the good positions may be taken. I honestly don't have a preference as long as its a good school and ok apartment.
I need to focus on the TESOL cert before the video but I was thinking using Hawaii to my advantage. An intro walking on the beach? IDK but I will be wearing an aloha shirt. |

| She mentioned that app won't be out until Nov/Dec and will update me with any changes from previous app. Replies to emails within two days which isn't bad considering the process. |

Yes, Serena's been great so far in replying to my emails.
For those who are applying to both EPIK and GEPIK, is GEPIK your first choice or your backup?
My concern is that GEPIK is my first choice, but the EPIK hiring season is almost 2 months earlier than GEPIK. I would rather work in Gyeonggido, but I also feel wary about only applying to GEPIK. My recruiter says that since EPIK hires earlier, GEPIK is usually the backup option if you don't get accepted into EPIK. Should I apply only to GEPIK and just cross my fingers? |

Glad to go through this process with someone
GEPIK is my first choice as I work rather work in Gyeonggido as well.
I went through Footprints for EPIK but I won't have all my documentation ready in time for the start date. I will for GEPIK though.
Apply to both, it's always good to have a backup plan.
Good luck! |

I've actually met and talked to her a couple times at the Korvia parties (Which you should definitely go to when you arrive in Korea because they're a lot of fun and a lot of people go), and she's really nice and fun.
As for the video, put a lot of time into it, and make it have some production value. If the "quality" of the video is better than other applicants, it'll make you stick out over other candidates applying for the same schools. My suggestion is, find a friend that knows how to edit and shoot and has a good camera. Put some transitions and some background music, and you'll be golden. |

| i've been wanting to teach in korea for about 2 years now. i plan to go with korvia since i've never done this before but have known about them for a year now. my first choice is GEPIK 2013. i don't have a TEFL certification, but does anyone know if i-to-i is a good one? i've been looking at theirs for over a year, but never took the classes because i wanted to be sure they were reputable. |

Jeremy,
Just curious, what made your original birth certificate not good enough? |

I am also applying for GEPIK 2013 through Korvia recruiting.
I had Claire as my interviewer. She was really nice. |

Hi guys
I'm new to this board, but like most of you in this thread, I am looking for jobs in public schools for Feb/March 2013. Having read some of the posts here though I'm beginning to wonder if I'm already too late? Can anyone advise me on this?
So far I've submitted emails and applications to KoreaGlobalConnections, KoreaConnections (same?), and ReachToTeach. I haven't heard anything about these companies in terms of their recruitment proecedure and reputation but would be eager to hear anything.
For me, I'm especially keen to work in Seoul - as I'm sure many are - can anyone recommend a recruiter for working in a public school in Seoul? I haven't yet applied through SMOE's official website (is there one?) but only through a few recruiters. |

Seoul is very hard to come by in terms of jobs. SMOE have made cut backs in their jobs; removing High School teaching positions.
If you want to get a position in Seoul I'd say your best bet is a Hagwon. If you insist on a Public School position then you could try your luck with GEPIK (which surrounds Seoul) or with IMOE (Incheon, near Seoul). |
