Panicked public

Today in Emart was chaos. People banging shopping carts into one another, eating all the free food samples like no tomorrow, shouting from one end of the supermarket to the other. Cars cutting each other off in desperation to get into the car park faster than each other. Horns. Crashing. Farting. Old people pushing, shoving and cursing to get to that 10 won off discounted dried seaweed - reeking of alcohol (presumably to calm nerves) and then promptly vomiting it up outside. Neglecting to flush the recently deposited poo in the public toilets (desperation to get back to the storm shelter ASAP?). Kids fighting. Lots of people yelling "Hurry! Hurry!" at the cashiers. I had to retire to the deodorant section just to get some peace and quiet.

Surely it has to be Super Typhoon Tembin induced panic buying.....?

Right?

??

Hello?

Sounds like a normal day at the 미아삼거리 emart to me. Or did I just step on your joke?

Steel makes a very good point here. When you own an apt, car or other valuable property or have kids, these storms are no joke. A flooded house or parking garage or car is no joke.

No, he makes a stupid point. I own both and I still make jokes about this storm. You think running around like chicken little yelling 'the sky is falling' is gonna change anything? Piss, moan and complain about it...yea, typhoons hate that. Usually they'll go the other way.

Actually I was making a wry statement on people lacking the means to own such things due to possibly poor financial management, laughing at those who do have such means being concerned over their livelihoods and property.

Those that laugh at such things (people worried about their crops) wouldn't appreciate it if someone were to look at their bank book and start laughing.

So you think a storm is a good opportunity to brag about how much more money you make than others here. Classy.

No less classy than people making jokes about lawn chairs falling over in a storm that killed 20.

Obviously that wasn't enough death for them to take it seriously.

No one's bragging. More like pointing out how people who dish it out wouldn't be to cheerful about taking it.

Dude, my bank book is a joke these days. But I know enough of the overall picture to not laugh about someone worried about their house that they've bought and paid for or their business that they own getting flooded. You can crack hurricane jokes without cracking jokes about human cost.

Yeah, you know that one that is classified as a storm, just the one that killed 20 people 2 days ago.

Seriously. The idiot act is getting old.

Seems to me that myself and a few others predicted exactly what would happen with this "storm". However, it also occurs to me that you have been ABSOLUTELY wrong in just about everything you have written. "Stupid Act"?

Twenty people died in the latest tempest. On average eighteen people die every day in Korea from road accidents. Why aren't you on this site every day having a hissy fit about that? Rolling Eyes

Holy rain batman!
If this keeps up, there are going to be some serious flooding issues.
We've had 12 straight hours of heavy rain...and still going strong.

Perhaps not as life threatening as some would like to fit their drama consumption...but still...enough to make you pause.

Personally, I am getting a bit worried to venture out anymore...in my car that is...the roads are a mess around here...some are completely submerged in parts.

How are others finding this rain?
Any problems or concerns yet?

I'm getting a tiny bit of spit landing on my computer screen, I may have to close the windows if it gets much worse.

'Hurricane' Balaclava (or what ever) gave us some strong, blustery winds but they were in no worse than many autumnal days back home. Back home where I am is very flat and often very, very windy so I fart in the general direction of these so-called 'storms'. Rolling Eyes

Wrong..except for the part where I caught you lying about the storms?
Yeah.. how soon we forget. You weren't remotely right. People died and there was significant damage and problems.
That's far beyond the stiff breeze you claimed it would be.
