I often query what drives one to be so unwarrantedly insulting. Name-calling, mocking others' intelligence, airs of superiority and the like; I spot a number of red flags, yes I do. |

Yep. Very much the opposite of the qualities you would want in a teacher.

Those who can, do; those who can't, teach. I think Shaw summed it up pretty well.
Sorry, but I'm not in your profession...so well...as to your qualities--keep 'em. 
But remember...despite my evil, unwarranted insulting mannerisms--my points regarding your "study" still stand. It's senseless to start testing until you can work out the major PROBLEMS in the framework of the study itself. Avoiding the significant questions by bobbing and weaving will only ultimately lead to a waste of your time. Particularly, the way of which you even interview or test your subjects could be significantly altered if you don't adequately understand the meaning of "accent" that you're attempting to test.
So well, you may not like me. But remember, you don't have to like everyone who could honestly try to help you.
It's a promising study, but your direction of doing it is far from the testing stage. If you can't grasp the backbone of the study--like a clear interpretation of what you're after, e.g. "accents,"--then you can't possibly have an understanding of your sample composition or sample size, let alone the capacity to accurately create a test to ascertain data on this indiscernible "it."
Don't waste your time with testing until you can figure out what you're testing. When you give me that...I'll promise you 25 people who can possibly participate in your study. Otherwise, I don't think I'll waste their time. Besides, it's hard to tell if those 25 would even fit your study until you can tell us what you're really testing.
Now, if you told me you're in high school trying to write a research project, then I'd say go for it and ignore the framework problems. Otherwise, I think you're just being silly, if not disillusioned. |
