I think his point was to get a reaction out of people that claim stuff like this never happens in Korea. Korea is a lot safer than most countries, but it's not as safe as a lot of people make it out to be. Foreigners that come here and get an earful about how decadent and crime ridden their home country is will soon want to point out the flaws in Korean society. These posts aren't targeting the Koreans or expats that accept Korea as the great country that it is, they are usually targeting the apologists who will continue their delusions even when faced with videotaped evidence or personal experience. |
This makes sense, and yet if this is the case (as to the intent of posting the video), the idea of an elderly woman yelling on the subway somehow negates the perceived apologist argument that this NEVER happens in Korea is rather weak. If in fact the point of the post was as you mention, it would have been much better to post a video of some real violence (since after all, those trying to make the point are comparing it with violence from back home or others)
Here are a few examples of random VIOLENCE...certainly a far cry from gangster grandma yelling, or cigarette ajumma pouring a beer on someone, or what is otherwise mostly shouting matches and light pushing between random folks here in Korea.

It's big news in Korea and it should be posted so that you, and others, can keep up-to-date on current events. Information is power, dude. |

| Did you all catch the CCTV video of the Korean guy lobbing a stone larger than a shoebox off the top of an apartment building? I missed the first part of the story, but he seemed to have hit someone or a vehicle with it. Anyone see the story? |

um, you missed my point. but it's ok, if you understood what i was trying to say it wouldn't be half as funny when people posted videos like this.
I have seen and know of some bad incidents in Korea but they pale in comparison to stuff that goes on in the USA on a regular basis. I'm not interested in spreading a rumor that Korea is a dangerous country because it wouldn't be true. I'm also not interested in telling personal anecdotes or sharing other videos I know of that would make Korea or Korean people look bad. However, I am entertained when apologists are forced into a corner and can't find their way out. They usually just resort to insulting my country or pointing out it's flaws. |

Watch this video from the Korean national news. It's about how this is just the latest physical confrontation in the Seoul subway system. The Korean authorities are becoming concerned and have already increased the number of police officers assigned to the subway system. |

Can you link to ONE post on here to a well-known "apologist" who has ever said stuff like this " never happens in Korea"?

I've never seen that and don't know anyone (apart from certain trolls on KS) who has ever made that exact claim. |

Yeah sorry but I don't have to go through the history of the forum to do that. Anytime a foreigner posts something about a bad experience they had here, someone comes along and blames them for it or tells them the same thing happens in their country. The implication is there, most people that come here see it for what it is. Sorry the cameraphone was invented and some people are having to face reality. Sorry about that. |

Were they red or the white radish? A white radish could indicate that she was offended by your white skin/personality, or possible she was jealou. I blame this on the degradation of the current Korean society, always pushing the idea that white skin is better. So in conclusion, potato. |

I'm still unable to understand the point of this thread, too wishy washy.
A) You want Korea to become a violent place so you feel better about your homeland which is a violent place?
B) You think Korea is a violent place now and that everyone is in denial and saying it is not a violent place?
C) Some other options I'm not thinking of at the moment... |

I agree with Steelrails that this is a non-story.
Entertainment...if that's your idea of entertainment so be it....but it's not all that far removed from those comedy shows we can see on TV here where someone gets hit on the head with those plastic hammers. |
