It was certainly an invasion of privacy, and it happened in my home. It seemed the most apt expression of my feelings about it. I couldn't call it a robbery, because nothing was actually stolen.

Having done a little research, the meaning of the term "home invasion" seems to have been skewed by American reality shows that scare people for ratings.

Just to update, I now have a very loud police-linked alarm installed in addition to new much stronger locks. And a CCTV camera and sign.
