Long story short....

1. Taxi driver grabbed my girlfriend
2. I went to protect her. He hit me, I retailiated

What really happened?

Taxi drivers are just driving around randomly grabbling people? Huh?

yup this has happened to about 4 females i have known in the past 2 years of being here. One taxi driver even followed a girl I knew into her apartment building. Go roundhouse kick some kimchi before you become the forum "detective"

I saw that one time. A woman ran into the restaurant screaming to get away from a taxi driver outside who eventually pulled away and drove off.

The restaurant staff seemed entirely unfazed by it all like it was something entirely normal.

Thats why you will always see Korean women getting into the back seat away from the driver (rather than the passenger side).

Christ this is pure comedy.

What woman do you know gets in the front seat of a taxi anywhere when taking a cab at night?

Good lord... Rolling Eyes

Laws in Korea is fcked up to be honest. Self defense doesnt exist here like in the states.

#1 If someone hits you, just hold onto him and wait for the cops to arrive. Don't hit back. You will get compensation.

#2 If you get into a fight, F him up and run like hell. Cops can't find you so you don't pay for his hospital bill and his compensation.

There's probably 10s of thousands of cabbies in Seoul. Given that its a pretty unregulated industry and attracts the poor and uneducated sometimes, its no mystery that some of those guys are scuzz. Pretty good cover for any kind of psycho pervert stuff.

I remember dating quite an attractive Korean girl years ago who was terrified of taxi drivers (or at least being in a cab alone with them). It was so expensive for me to get home because she insisted I stayed in the cab with her until she got to her place. She lived somewhere on the outskirts of Suwon and it was a mega ride for me to then get back to my place.

Cabbies have a bad reputation, which sucks for the majority of them who are good guys going about their business.
What's worrying is that perverts are everywhere. Taking up skirt photos, the burberry man (streaker), the handsy subway pervert (one of which touched up my girlfriend when she was sleeping on the train).
Reports of these cases are increasing. It seems that there is something in Korean society that results in these perverts repressing desires to the point that it makes them do these sick and perverted things.

Every time, my girlfriend takes a taxi home, I always note down the licence plate number. It could be fake but it's the best I can do for piece of mind.

I never had a bad taxi experience but I noticed an "ahjusshi" in a parked car in the driver seat, mastubating in his car while looking at a woman passing by. Was a horrible sight..
