It's true. Look at some of the old threads. People screaming about how Korea was bad for foreign tourists because the English was poor, despite the fact that the majority of tourists are from China and Japan. The general indifference to issues facing 3D workers. When they talk about "foreigner meet ups" they aren't really looking to hang out with some Russian dockworkers or Nigerian factory gus. "Clothes for foreigners" I'm guessing that doesn't mean the similarly sized Cambodians, Filipinos, and Vietnamese that are here.
Roll your eyes, but its part of a general attitude that people are starting to come around on. |

The multicultural factor, the amount of foreigners now and what could happen in a few years?
So I can't find any demographics or statistics on how many foreigners there are in Korea living, working or visiting within the last year or this year. Can anyone give me some percentages? Also how do you think the amount of foreigners in Korea will change within the next few years?
I also wonder about the multicultural thing about Korea, what is it like right now and what will it be like within the next few years.
In my opinion, it's a nice for Koreans to be open minded about other cultures and people but I think that it might affect Korea in a negative way? I mean, they open up to more cultures, different people and will lose a Korean community feeling, maybe the foreigners will not respect the Korean culture, it may force more Koreans to know English, it may not feel as safe and it might cause arguments and all sorts of problems etc.
Don't Korean people look down on the multicultural marriage? Like if a American, British... (I don't know if I wanted to say "white") dates or marries a Korean girl etc.
I don't know, what do you think? |

Dude, I'm pretty sure that this has less to do with people coming around to the idea than it does with the fact that newbs have stopped coming around here and Dodge/Radius seems to have dropped off the map. |

| It is unfortunate. This used to be the premiere site for ESL, but you can post the same post on W and it will garner far more reads and responses in a much shorter time. |

Because only 5% of the people in the forum actually helps.
The other 95% is just trolls.

Gotta hand it to you, after reading through your 50+ posts on the forums here, you certainly know how to insight unrest among the regular, long term members. I would have to guess you are simply doing some kind of research under the guise of being a "wet behind the ears" wanting to know everything about EFL in Korea so that "in the future when I am old enough" or whatever you can come and work here.
I found a particular theme among your postings that give away the fact that you are searching for particular types of responses so that it will provide you with the information you seek. So, I have to say I admire you for the efforts you are putting into this. I wondered in the beginning what it was all about, but from what I read and connecting the dots together, it looks like you are on a journey for information, and not simply to become educated about how to prepare for living and working in Korea. Cheers and good job on looking like a complete newbe. |

You are obviously trolling Steelrails, you are always banging on the drum about posters generalising about the thought processes of Koreans - every post where this happens then Steelrails - captain of the apologista police goes into action with his sirens blazing - and then you go and do exactly the same about posters on this forum - you are going to get called out on it, are you not?
Do you honestly think most posters on this forum aren't aware that we share the expat tag with Indians, Filipinos, Chinese and a host of other people?
Some posters might be so blind and daft to think they are the only expats in town that matter - but it will be a minority.
Here is another in recognition of your lame arse attempt at trolling. |

| He's right. The demographic here has changed by 2.93% over the last decade. That's an average though. Some years it has been less and some more. Of course, the upshot of such rapid change is that by the end of this century there will "pure-blooded" Korean people will have died out, and there will only be mixed Fillipina-White-Black-Korean people. |

But only 2.93%.
But seriously, either trolling or not a native speaker. Do Not Feed. |
