Nothing, I was taught one thing and then students are telling me they are taught something different. So, I asked which one other teachers were taught. It's already been mentioned it's optional.
No need for further attacks. If you have nothing to contribute in a positive manner you can go back to your daily Clark Kent life. |

Please lead by example master. What is wrong with you? Can you cite yours then or do the smart people just have to scroll up? |

I don't know what you are saying. |
Then I don't know what you are saying either. You threw the arrow, and I can't see the target. So, I am asking you to lead by example. Show me some bread crumbs. |

Didn't really read the thread, but I'll just throw this out there since I asked my dad a similar question recently, who was a newspaper editor and editorial writer for decades, and now does writing and editing work for some organization on the side, while breezing through his 3rd marriage to some filthy rich woman who's 20 years younger than him. Just a fwiw post.

| Funny you should ask about the comma, I've been addressing the issue at **** recently. AP newspaper style is no comma before the conjunction in a SIMPLE series (a car, a bike and a scooter). But add the comma in a complex series (The fire destroyed everything in the living room, most everything in the dining room, and nothing in the bathroom). The British add the comma before the conjunction always. We had a previous GM here who was a Plan II English major at UT who insisted on the Oxford comma in everything that went out (he also ordered two spaces after a period and other unnecessary stuff). But he's gone now and I'm trying to get the new General Manager to let me get away with AP style on the comma and one space after a period. I could probably just do it and get away with it if I wanted to though. |

The Oxfords also disapprove of the use of 'thru' in writing and will tell you that aluminum is not right, aluminium is right. Just go away. |
