But let me add the best defence is to walk away when you can. Had a buddy back home who was a real tough street scrapper tell me of getting surrounded by two or three guys. He punched a couple of them in the face, shoved, and ran away. Best course of action if possible. Get to a public place and make a big scene to attract cops. Otherwise, if not possible, my advice before stands. |

The BS part of it isn't so much the taxi driver or getting stomped, its the fact that a friend whom he met at a bar prior to going to the club, and was apparently part of a group, emerges from the club fortuitously at the time when he happens to be getting stomped, breaks up the fight, and with his friend dazed and gushing blood, tosses him in a cab and proceeds to continue partying the night away.
Hey, its my birthday, I just got to the club 10 minutes ago, and rather than having 20 people around me buying shots and hollering at the ladies, I'm deciding to take a random stroll outside?
And after wandering in the club, the dude manages to get DRAGGED out? Across an entire club by 6 dudes? And no one notices this? The bouncers at the front don't notice someone getting dragged? No one else in your group saw this?
You said everyone took separate cabs? You went solo? And at a club in Apgujeong, 6 random dudes decide to beat you? Dragging you through the club?
And your friend leaves you alone in a cab, bleeding and crying, and apparently goes back to clubbing? Some friend. Dude, if a friend is getting stomped by 6 dudes, you go in swinging and you're getting the rest of your boys to even the odds.
Dude, there is more to this story.
What club was this? |

Interesting how everyone is trying to punch holes in his story or call him a troll. If you are looking for rationality in a booze filled attack, you might not find it.
Sometimes wierd stuff just happens. Maybe he bumped the wrong guy, didn't realize it, or maybe someone's gf was a little too friendly too him and he had the nerve to smile back or whatever. Maybe these guys were having no luck with chicks and blamed it on the foreigner. Who knows? I've had a few near run-ins at clubs and believe it or not, didn't start any of them. But things can escalate fast. Clubs are full of haters, especially if you are one of the only foreigners in the mix.
Also, Apku is full of gyopos. So, there's plenty of mixed bags and wanna be thugs in that crowd. And how likely is it that when someone sees a foreigner getting beat by Koreans, that other Koreans will do something? Possible, but by no means definite.
One thing that DOES check out in the story is the numbers. 6 to 1. If there ever was a fair fight here against a foreigner, I've yet to hear of one. |

Again, its not the beatdown. It's his friend not giving a hoot.
Sees friend getting beatdown by 6 guys, friend is bleeding and crying. Throws friend in taxi, heads back into club.
One or the other is a massive douche.
"Hey where did you go?"
"Oh, just outside. Jack was getting stomped by 6 dudes, cut up pretty bad. I threw him in a cab. Anyways, where's those Jaegerbombs?" |

If there's one thing I learned from years of working in the clubs - weird stuff happens.
The story has some issues, but I'd chalk that up to a drunken perspective.
I've seen guys get dragged out a side door and stomped. For no other reason than they bumped the wrong guy. I've seen the bar staff turn a blind eye to it - or even facilitate it.
That being said, almost every drunk story I've heard, the person claims total innocence - and that's not usually the case. Sure, it can happen, but there's usually a cause - whether they realize it or not.
Semi-drunk guy wanders through a bar looking for his buds. He bumps Big Bruiser and slightly spills his drink. Big Bruiser's friends look at him with a "you gonna take that?" look. Big Bruiser and his crew, pick up hapless guy and drag him out a side door - maybe they're buds with the staff. They pummel hapless guy into a bloody pulp, then walk back into the bar and get back to drinking and looking tough.
Yeah, very possible.
As for a friend dumping him in a taxi and going back to drink - yup, also very possible - especially if there was tail inside. |

Not paying for a taxi while drunk, driver gets angry and grabs his shirt, and him pushing the driver to the ground and getting arrested for it.. also very possible. |

Story sounds fishy. You shouldve reported it to the police. Why go in the cab at all? |

I have read quite a few posts trying to get some information about how this would be handled and most posts do not have any resolution to them, so here is mine:
I went to the station today with a prepared message for the officer, but he was not there today because he was at some “education.”
I managed to get out of the other officers that the case had been sent to the prosecutor’s office.
Went to prosecutor’s office, a volunteer translator helped me through finding the case number. They dropped the case: no conviction, no arrest, and no indictment.
There is an incident report on file, “but nothing will show up on a BG check” and “it will only come up if I get in trouble again.”
So, I guess the moral of the story is, if you get in trouble, stay on top of things.
To clear a few things up:
Club: Octagon
Yeah, my friend was a little in the wrong. He has however helped me fix most of this by helping me translate things, etc. the best he could/giving advice.
I'll hopefully be starting a new job outside of Seoul soon. (Which means I get to maintain my record of 6 club visits in Seoul)
The driver claims I "broke his tail light" according to the report. Which is hell of interesting considering I was NEVER behind his car. I assume he was just trying to get money from me to try to fix it. Guess it was just my turn with a #$%& of a Taxi driver. |

Is that so hard to believe? The mixed bag of foreigners in Korea doesn't make it too hard for me to believe. "friend" here could simply mean academy coworker. |

Shouldn't we all have gotten 'clubbing' out of our system by the time we graduated university? Oh, and getting blindingly drunk in public.
Be adults. |

Is that a particular club? No idea - I no longer club. Just speaking in generalities. |

You've got some anger issues there. I guess you're entitled. If there was a one in five chance my Gorean wife worked in the sex industry, I'd be angry too. Keep chucking those coins and pounding those keys. |
