dont mean to flood this but im on my phone reading and typing.

so many good points in this thread. all i got is a BS and it was BS. I was the worst teacher in the world when i got here. Like weigookin74 it took me a while. Id like to think im in as much of demand as him but my phone aint ringin like it used to despite example lesson plans in class video and a mess of reference letters.

My degree is in physics. How would a master degree in the same subject improve my teaching?

No, in nearly all countries, it's the employing school that requires this or that qualification just same as with most other professions though a bachelors degree is required by a great many countries to get a work visa same as here.

Korea will not fix any problems nor improve anything by requiring a cert though the pay and benefits are high enough to require it compared to the world with ESL that mostly pays only about half or less with fewer benefits. I'd say researching team co-teaching and developing training methodology for both foreign and Korean co-teachers would be a better bet to fixing the problems and failures surrounding miscommunications, misunderstandings, saving face, embarassement, narcisism, and inferiority complex issues getting in the way of education and progress.
