Just a question..
Why are you YOUNG people get getting colonoscopies? I thought they were recommended after a certain age, which I thought was 50 years old. I understand the person who lost their parents to cancer, but what about the rest? Just curious? No judgement...... |
My first one was when I was 19, having acute abdominal pain and passing blood. I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease.
My second one was last February because of strange abdominal pain. I had to have my appendix removed weeks later. The third one was a few weeks after the appendectomy at the request of my gastroenterologist at the hospital where I had surgery, because she noticed something on the CD of my colonoscopy from the first hospital. She performed a colonoscopy and removed a polyp the first hospital missed. Polyps are usually what cause colon cancer. I'm only 38, but I'm glad the polyp was removed. It was well worth the $100 and a few hours of my time. |
