For that matter, how does one take off the wrapper cleanly??
I'm so careful but never successful |

It depends on what convenient store chain you're buying them from, but for most of them there's a tab on the top tip. Pull that tab which will rip out the strip along the center. Then slowly and carefully pull on the remaining plastic on either side. That should leave you with a complete kimbap triangle. |

| The kim on occasion gets caught in the plastic folds and rips off unfortunately. |

Yes. An unfortunate, unforeseeable tragedy.

Tell you what: if western kids consumed triangle kimbap as a snack instead of the "being-fed-and-then-led-to-the-slaughter" fatty foods and sweets they're conditioned to feed upon, there'd be a lot fewer chubby little youngsters bringing guns to school.
In this sense, I think the man who invented the Triangle Miracle deserves the much-vaunted Nobel Prize for Foodstuffs.

| I'm not so sure it's all that healthy. The seaweed is fried in oil and chockfull of salt, the rice is pure starch, and the most popular fillings (tuna mayo, bulgogi, etc.) tend to be pretty fatty. I'm sure you could do worse for snackfoods, but it's not exactly diet food. |

Don't you hate that. It takes a bit of a technique that must be learned.
But if you get it right, damn it is worth the practice |

If you follow simple instructions, you pull the tape marked '1' all the way off, then pull the end marked '2' all the way off, then pull the end marked '3' and voila. |

But you can't just go haphazardly pulling or you'll rip the kim for sure. One must learn the proper technique of "wiggling" and "shimmying".

These things were invented in Japan, right? Anyone have any info pertaining to when they were created? And by whom?
