Whiners.

All of you.

I taught in Korea for three years. Saw a lot of weird things and strange foods. But I'm in China now.

Try bumblebee salad (yes, with real bumblebees!)

Termites and Garlic stirfry

Chicken feet...pig noses....

mouse kebabs....

Silkworm stew, steamed fish head, cow eyeball soup...

I would die for Spam Jigae or Kimchi Spaghetti again!

Have you eaten the jumping prawns yet? My friend was there on business and had to suffer that one night.

My first school used to serve dried squid all day long. They also liked to serve anchovies and rice for lunch. The good thing was, it gave me an excuse to take off and eat elsewhere instead of with the kids.

I eat at the restaurant across from the school. It's much better. Vegemite though is a magic spread for toast. Marmite is a poor pretender. Smile

Isn't rice the main dish in all Koean meals?

Depending on which Korean you are talking too I guess, but I have never heard anyone call it that.

No that's just my own personal opinion.

Ramyeon is also junk food, imho.

Ok Second try.

My worst School Lunch ever was in bording school in Switzerland.

It started out ok.

I started with the prawn c*ocktail. It was excellent.

Then I Soupe a l'oignon, smuthered in gruyere. Fantastic.

Then, a salade nicoise. Great, as always.

Then, roti de lapin a la sauce au poivre. Outstanding.

Then for desert I ordered creme brulee.

But, the bloody barbarians were all out of it, and I had to have mousse au chocolat. TWO days in a row :twisted Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Hey shawn. Did you see my post about your B-day? A bit scary Shocked Wow here we go again, we both posted at 3:44.

Hey shawn, is the Okpo shopping center grocery store still the best store in Korea?

Man, I sure could do with a tub of that sour cream from Danemark.

For you guys who don't know, if you hit about 4 differet stores in Okpo you can get stuff you can not even find in Pusan. You see, in a small area there were about 800 foreign worksers at Daewoo, Samsung, Chevron etc.

So, the stores were smart and found out what we wanted and got it. And some places, like bakeries, had some of the foreign workers wifes give them recepies and cooking lessons so they could make stuff that the western people, and Koreans with good taste would want. Good Business. Don't see that often in Korea.

At least it was that way 4 years ago. I also miss that one place that had real cream puffs with tapioca pudding.

And, even Lotte Departent Store in Pusan, and now the one here in Kwangju don't have anchovies fileted in olive oil (Like God intended.) But, I could get them in Okpo.

today we had something that I termed 'catfood jjigae' as the fish in it looked like the stuff I would give to my cat. We also got dried squid. Mad

Actually, the above was not the worst. It was the second worst. The worst was the next day.

Well, things started out just fine.

I started out with smoke salmon with caviar. Severd on lightly tosted bagette. With minced onion, hard boiled egg and capers. Superbe

Then, I have the shrimp cream soup. Magnific.

Next, salade aux epinards. Quite refreshing.

As for the main course, lobstar tails with real butter and
lemon wedges. A+++

Then, for desert. I ordered tarte aux pommes. BUT THEY WERE ALL OUT.

Mousse au chocloat THREE DAYS IN A ROW. Twisted Evil Evil or Very Mad Twisted Evil
