| Anyways, you will need at least a couple months to truely appreciate India in my opinion. While I have never been there, i'm already planning the early stages of a ten-mont trip through Asia and Australia after i'm done teaching in a couple years and I plan to spend at least 3 of those months in India. |
My ex did 100 days in India and felt like she missed most of it. Other friends who have "done India" suggested 5-6 months, including Nepal. Friends who live there suggest never leaving. |

5-6 months eh? Yeah, there is alot to do over in India and I could already see my self spending at least 2-3 weeks in Goa, Kerela and Kashmir .
I plan to come into India from Nepal via Tibet (visas will be tricky) and travel up the river Ganges (Calcutta, Varanasi, Delhi, Rishikesh), up into northern India (Shimla, Leh and Kasmir (if safe enough), and then south through Rajasthan, Mumbai, Goa and Kerela.
Oh man, i'm getting excited just thinking about it. |

Ok, I have decided what I'd like to do for my 6 weeks off...
Korea to Thailand
Thailand-Cambodia
Cambodia-Vietnam
Vietnam-Laos
Laos-Myanmar
Myanmar-Thailand
I think I will just get a return ticket from Incheon to Bangkok, and bus or train it through these places.
Any tips or suggestions?? |
Yeah, as the eye said, you're covering way too much. 3 weeks at least for Vietnam. I did it in 2 and everyone thought I was rushing it.
I spent a month in Thailand alone and there are lots of the country I didn't see.
So I'd say no more than 3 countries. What I'd do is go to Bangkok and see either Laos or Cambodia. leave the other plus vietnam for another trip. |

I know you said you wanted to save China and Japan for warmer dates, but you could also take a ferry to China, then take the train and hit the major cities, like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou and into Kunming- all by train. You can then fly from Kunming, China to Chiang Mai, Thailand (very cheap, and only an hour or so), take a break in Chiang Mai, take a train to Bangkok, then down into Malaysia (don't miss Penang and the Cameron Highlands!), take a ferry into Indonesia, travel through Indonesia and go back Malaysia by ferry, go back up into Thailand to the golden triangle, visit Lao, Myanmar, and Vietnam, take a train, bus or plane back into China, and either fly or take the boat back to Korea. I have done this, so it is possible. There is plenty of cheap accomodation. Take a lonely planet with you. It is invaluable. Travel light and take plenty of film (digital camera is the best). It will be the adventure of a lifetime! China, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Lao all require a visa beforehand. The rest give you a visa on arrival, but check because it depends on what passport you carry; most Western countries are ok.
If you decide you really enjoy a certain country, just stay put for a while and change your travel plans, it is so cheap that it is possible to stay in any one country for a while.
Good luck! |

| i had a $30/day budget in SE Asia and I was living ok on that trip. For most of it, I wasn't going as cheap as possible. You can spend probably 15-20 bucks a day in some of those countries. |
