All countries have laws about what is legal to bring in. Customs has the task of finding out if what is being shipped in is legal. Hence they must open packages on occasion. Two of my last three were opened. They were well repacked and resealed. My only complaint is that the oatmeal spilled out of a couple of boxes because the seal had been broken. Nothing had gone missing, the spices were all unopened and in the correct bottles.
I am sure if there had been wine, it would be missing because it is an illegal way to bring in wine. It is illegal in the States to ship wine between States, and you will probably not just lose the wine if you are caught.
I've has really good service with Korea post. Packages and envelopes get to the States faster than I have had things get between states in the U.S. before. It is not perfect, and I am sure there are some ham handed customs guys (they are not the post office by the way). But in general the service has been good, and helpful and friendly at my local branch. |
