Perhaps I'll introduce you to a few of my female TaeKwonDo black belt friends, and they can show you firsthand whether or not they're capable of defending themselves.
.

they know taekwondo?? so what?? its not much of a self defence, nor is it particulary relevant when in a street fight. but hey if you carry around some blocks of wood, they'll split it for you Rolling Eyes

I watched UFC yesterday. Shamrock against some TKDon't guy. I changed the channel for second because they were just doing the introductions. I came back to the channel about a minute later and Shamrock had won the fight and was walking out of the octagon. Thats TKDon't for ya.

I was told by my karate sensei that pound for pound men are stronger than women....the women in the class didn't like it....and of course he said there are always exceptions....but generaly they are stronger....his point...as a woman you need to out think your opponent if it is a man. Women self defence classes teach you one shot techniques to "put someone down"..thumb to the throat....I think the bottom line is for a woman to fist fight with a man...granted there are a few that could win....perhaps the majority of women would lose to put our "strength" against a man. I do think that when an affair takes place...there are two people involved in committing said crime.....therefore blame should be 50/50....should men be beaten...heck yeah....they should also be beaten if they cheat on their wife with a single women..makes no difference....although I think something more painful would be appropriate....take away tehir car....they should be fired from their job....it should be put in the newspaper for all to see....ruin their life...?...if you have been on the receiving end of this then you know....none of this even comes close to that feeling.

'Desperate Housewives': The Korean edition. Clearly there exists a modicum of dysfunction in many Korean marriages. This is by no means unique to Korea. The aggrieved parties may respond in different ways. Part One: A (US) buddy of mine took up with a married K-woman; it seemed adventurous at the time. And while he was busy thinking with the little head instead of the big one, it developed that her husband was the owner of the apt complex in which he dwelled, and lived nearby, much too close for comfort. much to his chagrin. He thought he could break it off by going on his winter vacation, but upon his return, she was waiting. He decided to play hardball and changed the locks, but, because she had some proprietary interest in the building, she has had the locks re-changed, and thus can let herself into his place at will. Now he's getting a tad paranoid; the husband is a rather powerful guy in this context, and could no doubt arrange for some serious damage done to his physique. Needless to say, this buddy is more than nervous, and has chosen to spend most of his free time far from his home. The moral to this little tale is self-evident: don't take up with a married K-woman. Stay tuned for Part Deux...

One more fact to consider: at the present time, adultery is a criminal offense in Korea. Enforcement is rare, I believe, but it does happen.

well in the case of a male foreigner sleeping with a Korean woman I can be 100% sure that the law would be in full effect.

Yes, IF the jilted husband chose to press charges. I suspect that in a lot of cases, whether they involve foreigners or not, the law goes unenforced simply because the "victim" doesn't want the public humiliation.

just remembered: there was a similar study done in the US in the 70's that stated that 50% of women cheated on their husbands or boyfriends. however, while sensational, the study had problems. the main problem was that the sampling was not random. the study was based on a mailing to the members of an extremist feminist group. when the study was redone (and i believe it has been redone very very often,) the actual number is around 20-25%. and even then, there are different studies about the severity of the cheating as well, including: thoughts about cheating, cheating once, chronic cheating, long-term infidelity, or leaving your mate for another person.

generally, only the last category is cause for concern to most people (as this is the main reason they are afraid of their spouse cheating on them in the first place): that their spouse is looking to replace them. iirc, this number is very very very low, which is why it doesn't even make a minor splash in the mainstream media. iirc, this is less than 1%.

They want to have their female attractivness noticed, and also want a sense of independence. The men withn the money and the prestgious jobs can pick the stunners from the litter, but aren't able to show the affection to keep the beauties feeling good about themselves. That's to be expected though since most marriages these days are buisness arrangments.

All of this is nothing new, but it could be that Korea's women are finally coming of age.

Perfect, thats just how I see it.

Of course not all men are to blame. Many try their best but sometimes its the women who are confused.

As confusing as confusion can be once confused over the confusion of these poor confused confusions. Wink

No sex, that's all. I used to think I had other reasons for it, but now I think it's because I have a morbid fear of any sort of responsibility or attachment. My sex drive is also just about near zero whenever I'm alone. It just lies there dormant.

So it would seem...perhaps I've tamed it? Whenever I'm at home by myself I just work on things until it gets late, then I work out and go to bed.
Remember how in The Mighty Hercules, he would tame Pegasus
every
single
time?
I was going to try to find a good picture of him taming Pegasus but try as I might I couldn't locate one... Sad
The other thing I always wondered is why he didn't just keep the ring on.
