Personally, I'm an absurdicrant. The problem is we keep voting for politicians. I'm still looking for the perfect non-candidate. |
Arnold Schwarzenegger. |
I'd like to see Rush Limbaugh. As much as I disagree with some of his platforms, the man is brilliant and knows what the hell he's talking about. His bs detector is on full alert always.
Change the Constitution to allow one man in? I don't know about all that. |

I guess one shouldn't insist too much upon keeping the title "absurdicrant" within reasonable bounds...though I was thinking more along the lines of, say, Russell Hulse, or something like that. You know, something really whacked out. |

Following a post that hails Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rush Limbaugh, and the U.S. Libertarian Party, your "absurdicrant" party suddenly doesn't seem so absurd. |

Unfreeze the size of the House of Representatives.
2) Reform the electoral college.
Optimally get rid of it.
At least, let states split electoral votes.
To date, my vote has never meant didley squat.
And it pisses me off.
I didn't bother to vote in 2000. My California friends got angry.
BUT REALLY. Let's be serious. Hurray for them voting Democrat in an overwhelmingly Democrat state. YAY for practicing "democracy". My state will overwhemingly go Republican. Tested and true for more than 50 years. And surpise surprise, NO, my 1 vote in 2000 would have had no effect.
Then you get the chuckling "Democrats Abroad" dude in Itaewon 2004: "Hehe, you haven't voted for awhile have you." Where was he from? California.
I did vote.
Did my vote matter? No.
Is it some major mystery that less than half of our "American Dreamers" turn out to vote? No.
But let's spread our great system far and wide.
Soon influential Iraqis will learn how great it is to buy Congressmen instead of trembling under a dictator.
Let freedom ring. |
Waaa Waaaa....my vote didn't matter because my candidates didn't win. The system sucks because most other people in the nation don't agree with me. Suck it up there Red State boy, I'm sure you'll get your chance after this Iraq debacle.
Isn't it amazing how the people who voted for losing candidates always want to "change" the system? Yes, like the Republicans after FDR had been elected to his fourth term. |

@ desultude:
Yeah. That's what's scary.
Steven Pinker for president! Or Mary Kay Letourneau! Or something... |

Lyndon LaRouche in '08.
Has sort of an apocalyptic ring to it. |

Why reach so far back? 1992-2000 should land you plenty of examples. The phrase "politics as usual" might be helpful in your Googling. |

First, about 3rd party candidates...
Usually, the 3rd party candidates (Specifically the Green Party and the Libertarians...) steal votes away from the Democrats. The more 3rd Party candidates we have in the States, the more often the Republicans will win.
Second, about Arnold...
Never. Never ever ever ever... While many of the red states love Arnold as the governor of Cali, they will never ever ever ever support a foreigner as president... Never.
Third,
John Kerry and George Bush are the same... Hate it, like it, it doesn't matter. They are both part of the same secret society that has been plotting and planning the United States government since the days of the founding fathers.
God bless America?
Indeed. |

I'd let them run Arnold if we could run Bill again. |

Some of us expected the opposition to come up with a viable candidate. Unfortunately we were disappointed. Can't wait until the Constitutional amendment lets Arnold run. |
I'm going to immigrate to Canada or Mexico when that passes... |
And I'll be moving to the US if this goes through.
