Discovery recently had an interesting show about developments in non-lethal weapons, and I'm basically in favor of them.
But then there's Joo-ish aspect of this thread:

As an American, aren't you allowed to earn up to $60,000 tax free? |
Believe it's 80k, but regardless...
Joo,
If you're going to level this argument against someone, I assume you considered how it might be turned back on you, right?
Why are you here and not back home paying taxes to fund "exotic weapons"? |

Nor do I don't blast the US for spending money on social programs.
I opposed Bush' tax cuts but I didn't rail against them.
Here you have are non Ameiricans ripping the US for tax cuts and not spending enough on social programs, but they pay far less than Americans pay in taxes even with the tax cuts, and they contribute nothing to social programs in their own country. |

No, you clearly state that Canadians in Korea who do not pay taxes on their social programs should move home if they support them.
Your posts support "exotic weapons". You'd like a $5 gas tax.
Time to get behind it, Joo.
Or are you independently wealthy?
But... oh crap! I support NASA. Goodbye Korea! I must do my patriotic duty and flip burgers to get us to Mars. Gotta support the program. |

Actually Joo, if you had read my story carefully you would have noted that by being here, I am supporting social programs back home.
If I were back home, I am quite sure that I would have to draw benefits from EI or welfare during the winter months. (thus I would be drawing out more than I pay in taxes every year) -- get it?
By being here, I am not paying..... that is true ...but I am not drawing benefits every year either.
So overall, I am contributing to the system.
On top of that, when I do visit Canada I have to pay GST and PST on everything I buy, but unlike resident Canadians (who get their GST back every 3 months), I am not entitled to anthing and I get no returns at the end of the year. I just pay and get nothing. So don't tell me I am not contributing.
Furthermore, if I visit a doctor (for any reason) I have to pay cash, and if I buy Pharmaceuticals I have to pay the full price. (unlike resident Canadians)

Did I ? Whatever the message I wanted to give was if you blast the US for tax cuts and not spending enough on social programs in the US then why are they one )so content to pay less taxes than Americans and two) not contribute to them in their own nation.

I don't drive much at all, and I wouldn't go around with a huge car anyway.
If I were calling on Canadians to spend more money on defense then you would have a point.
I haven't called for that.
I did call for Canadians soldiers to be in Korea instead of US soldiers but that is cause there are more Canadians in Korea than Americans but that is also cause many Canadians oppose the US withdrawing troops from Korea. |

Good that's the way you see it. What you said is that Canadians in Korea should move home if they truly endorse the programs they support.
I suggest you do the same. |

Yes. Unfortunately, blame is a two-way game.
It doesn't just go one way because you intended it to.
If you assume he has to move home to support social programs, then we can assume you have to go home to support yours. |

Why I am not telling Canadians how to spend their tax dollars.
You object to this message:
if are a foreigner in Korea and you blast the US for tax cuts and not spending enough on social programs in the US then why are they one )so content to pay less taxes than Americans even with the tax cuts and, two) not contribute to them in their own nation. |

I don't know how to answer your post
But you still pay less taxes in Korea than Americans do - even with the tax cuts.
And the given the choice between keeping US forces in South Korea or researching high tech weapons the US ought to give priority to high tech weapons. |

How do you figure I pay less taxes in Korea than Americans?
I am not saying you are wrong, buy the way.
Last I heard, I pay the same as an American working in Korea.
But maybe I am mis-informed. |
