A good friend of mine is a folk singer in Korea. He has written some gems about living here.
Distractions, Black Market Turkey, and Yellow Dust.
All songs written and performed by Ian Reid. |

(The video is incidental. It's the best version of the song I could find on the net. But the GW shots add some comedy. ) |

you might want to start a new thread for novels
i'd add Lord of the Flies, about the power-hungry kids stranded on an island who end up torturing & killing eachother |
I'd also add Plato's 'Allegory of the Cave'. That goes for both foreigners and Koreans. |

here's one that runs thru my head on my way to work everyday:
"SPEAK ENGLISH OR DIE" by the Stormtroopers of Death
some more that are appropriate:
"SHE LOVES MY CO*K" by some heavy metal band
"TOO DRUNK TO F**k" the Dead Kennedies
"WHITE MINORITY" Black Flag
"THERE AIN'T SH*T ON TV TONIGHT" minutemen |
All good choices.
I gave my "Speak English or Die" T-shirt away before I came over here. I didn't think it would go down too well. |

Depeche Mode - Everything Counts
('The handshake
seals the contract
from the contract
there's no turning back
the turning point
of a career
in Korea
being insincere.
The holiday
was fun-packed
the contract
still intact.
The grabbing hands
grab all they can
all for themselves after all ...') |
