Apart from the normal hours I believe Wonderlands also request their teachers telephone their kindergarten students once a month, pushing in another few unpaid hours.
But, there is one thing about Wonderland: security. You'll get job security but not much more.

At my Wonderland, I don't call the kindergarteners. Just the afternoon primary school kids. I have a total of 17 students that I have to call and each call takes about 3 minutes. Total time is less than an hour. No big deal to me.

But, it's been pointed out several times that my school is not like the rest. Not all of them are cool. Just like any chain or hagwon in general. Some are good, some are crap. Some ARE REALLY CRAP!!!

From what I've heard, Wonderland has one of the worst reputations in Korea. They're on just about every black list I've seen. I would stay far, far away from a Wonderland school. It's not worth it to go through hell for a year.

That being said, not every school within a chain is going to be the same. Perhaps there are good Wonderland schools out there. But I wouldn't take a chance. Their reputation is just too bad.

There's actually a website put together by former teachers called "Prisoner of Wonderland." You should check it out: http://www.geocities.com/prisonerofwonderland/

Why are you doing that? Why are you scaring her away from the job? What if she ends up liking it you big putz? Let her decide for herself she's not a child. Just because others had a bad experience doesn't mean she can't take care of herself. Damn Christ they are paying her accomodations and airfare if she doesn't like it come up with a letter of release pay them back their airfare and go onto something else. She might enjoy it how do you know?

I hate when people flame and keep flaming and flaming. I hope you open a business one day and someone does that to you, idiot.

You ignorant fool.

Well I dunno if he/she is so ignorant. Wonderland once offered me a "head teacher" position (woo hoo!) at 240 hours of work a month.

I have a hard time understanding how anyone could enjoy working that many hours a month.

I ended up with a job working 80 hours a month for the same money.

My advice: stay away from Wonderland, it's too much of a roll of the dice whether or not you end up in one of the "good" locations.

I will find out where you work!

How is this coming along for you?
Are you having any luck?
I gave you a huge hint already, but just let me know if you need some more.

Your boss will be reading your posts or will have knowledge of your flaming towards other teachers in cyberspace.

Flaming?
Other teachers?
There are a few things wrong with your supposition, but I'll just stick with one: you're not a teacher.
You're hoping to get a job as an EFL instructor.
At Princeton? McGill? Cambridge?
No, in Korea.
Unless you are willing to throw up your CV, I'm going to continue to snicker whenever you call yourself a 'teacher'.

If you ever wonder why you got fired before your contract was up, you should maybe think a little deeper rather than hearing the same old "it's the parents" no buddy it's you.

You know, I think you might be- um, what's that word?
Oh yes, transference- I think you might be transferring shameful events in your past on someone else.
Like me, for instance.
Because I've never been fired.

See what happens in the next few weeks.

Well, it's only been a couple of days, but I'm a very impatient person- could you give me a status report?
Should I be watching my back, sleeping with all the lights on, checking my chair before I sit down, smelling my lunch before I take a bite, or what?
In the spirit of fairplay you should at least give me some sort of a hint.

I'm sure lurkers and posters here would love to bury you.

Maybe you could round them up and create a posse, or a vigilante gang of disgruntled Dave's posters.
You guys could even call yourselves 'The Warriors' and get custom made matching vests and tennis headbands in your gang's colours; Then I could fulfill my life-long dream of having a reason to clink pop bottles together while chanting
"Warriors, come out and play!
WARR-EE-YORS, COME OUT AND PLAY-EEYAY!!!"

So how about it- are you game?
