Wonder what Mary Jo Kopechne would say about "this accident"?

I really am puzzled why so many people (right-wing supporters?) have brought up the 1969 Ted Kennedy incident this week. This is the third time I've encountered the reference in the last two days. The politician-causing-an-accidental-death-or-injury-of-another link between the two events seems awfully weak to me. Seems more like redirection.

(I'm guessing you don't like the Kennedys...)

Hospital officials said they were not concerned about the six to 200 other pieces of birdshot that might still be lodged in his body.

I, however, am concerned about the ten to 85 points of IQ necessary to discount in order to accept this statement at face value.

Yeah, that's probably the goal of right-wingers who bring up Chappaquiddick. However, I gotta say that the comparison did occur to me too, but not because I want to distract attnetion from Cheney(far from it).

Of coursee there are differences between the two stories. Cheney is accused of waiting too long to inform the national press, whereas Kennedy was accused of waiting too long to call the cops.

Yeah, I mean, why would they want to bring up Chappaquiddick? Is it supposed to highlight that in this situation nobody died? After the Chappaquiddick reference it only began to occur to me that alcohol might be involved in the Cheney incident.

I too get the sinking feeling we'll never see the facts surface.

Media Ignores Cheney 'Smoking Gun'
A 28-gauge shotgun fired at 30 yards is too weak to cause Whittington's injuries Idea

This made me laugh.

I giggled here, too.

Seriously, though, if and when the guy dies I'm gonna feel bad for the laughter I expended in regard to his pain. He's 78, which means he might die any particular day of any number of causes ... and when he does, how many people are going to think being shot in the face by the Veep was not a contributing factor?

I am guessing it will be indirectly proportional with people capable of thinking that a 78 year old being shot in the face might possibly cause his death.

Copious amounts of alcohol? As of his statement it was a beer at lunch. I'm curious where you got...oh...IGTG? Should have known.

Women who were not their wives? US Ambassador to Switzerland Pamela Willeford?

Yea. I'd tap that out if I was Cheney.

Anyway, I'd like to see some video of the lawyer recovering in his "private hospital wing" so we can move this case along. Till then, there will be skepticism.
