Stompin' Tom's old school house is just outside Tignish, North of the Potato Museum in O'Leary PEI. We decided to take a field trip there one weekend (I went to university in PEI) and then spent 4 hours at the museum and touched all the stuff in the school. The school was outside and there weren't any cameras, security nor real potatoes in sight. Good times good times.

Is it next to a big flying saucer or a giant lobster trap?

Obviously, you've been to the Maritimes. I used to live not too far away from a very large salmon and a monstrous strawberry.

did my intership in the town with the biggest "felled" mule deer in saskatchewan...the thing was fat as hell.

Also near the biggest sausage as well as the largest perogy.....

I can't even imagine being a town mayor and trying to sell one of these gimmicks...

"These days, EVERY town is getting the biggest, or longest whatever. Scottsdale just got the biggest phallus in the country for goodness sakes...
So, how are we, the tiny community of tatsville...gonna up them.
Well, tatvilliians, I have your answer.....
9 magic words
The biggest blade of grass western canada. Think about it...everyone loves grass. If everyone loves grass, well then, everyone will REALLY love the biggest blade of grass right?

Folks, this idea sells itself".

no one has ever told me to "f" off.... though my cousin threw a beer tray at the jerk oasis guy (hit him right in the back of the neck..it was sweeeet!) at a festival in holland and the whole band walked off stage.

It occurs to me now that I told Kevin J Anderson, hack author of loads of hack Star Wars and Dune novels, to f-off. Back when the Internet was small, 1995, I was a big time user of Usenet and some star wars groups. Anyway, I read a couple of Kevin J Anderson star wars novels and just tore them a new one on usenet. I guess Kevin J Anderson actually read that usenet channel and he sent me an email. One of those like "well, how many star wars novels have you written!" kind of defenses. I told him that didn't matter. What mattered was I was a consumer. Did I feel like I was getting value for my money by buying and reading his book? Hells no.

I don't have to be able to build my own car before I can express my displeasure about the lemon Ford I'm driving...

In 1998, or was it 99... some guys from A Tribe Called Quest yelled at me to get out of the crosswalk so their limo could get into the parking garage.

This is not quite on target, but a little more relevant than giant potatoes. I wanted to share this anecdote but didn't think it deserved its own thread.

Yesterday at Incheon airport, I saw one of the Great F-Offs of Our Time. Airport security guys, as you might have noticed, walk around with great big rifles and a stern look on their dewy young faces.
I'm not sure what they did to rile this ol' grandpa, but he was tearing them a new one.

The beauty of it was that he wasn't saying a word. I suppose he was deaf, but this is not sign language I have ever witnessed before. They stood there politely as he wordlessly communicated his contempt, miming blowing snot out of his nose, spitting on the sidewalk, indicating horns on his head with his fingers, smaking an x with his hands over his face... just one offensive gesture after another, solemnly and silently. He was standing in front of the baggage-cart rack, and when I approached, he politely signaled me in like an air-traffic controller, then continued his silent tirade.

The two heavily-armed boys looked rather stunned, and I flashed one of them a grin to see if he was amused or perturbed. It was all rather Confucian.

My friend told Rob Lowe to *beep* off a few years back. He was coming out of the Sutton Place Hotel and my friend wanted to talk to him, but his female assistant intercepted and was all "no, he's not talking to people."
My friend screamed at him, "oh you're So busy! *beep* you, asshole!" Then she saluted his leaving car with her middle finger.

Canadian artist Doug Cameron, who had a hit woth "Mona and the Children" at the time, interrupted his concert to tell my friends and I to "shut up." It was a dinner/concert thing, and I guess our conversation and the fact we were barely listening to him pissed him off.

This is not a "eff off" but my friend went to hug Morrisey as he was making his way off stage, and she tripped on her approach. She ended up tackling him at the knees and he landed face up in the dirt. I laughed my ass off!

When Andy Cole played for Newcastle (about ten years ago) my mate asked for his autograph outside the training ground, and Andy Cole wrote:

"F**k Off,

Andy Cole"

in my mate's autograph book.

My sister went up to Rolf Harris and started making funny noises at him, the kind that he does in his wierd songs. Anyway, you guessed it he told her to f off. Jimmy Saville (He used to be the presenter on UK TV programme 'Jim'll fix it', a show where Jim made children's dreams come true) was jogging in a park in my hometown Leeds and my friend, then aged about 12 asked for an autograph but he couldn't fix it for her and told her to f off.

God.................for many private reasons. To paraphrase a great poet, "thank god I'm not Jesus and have to love everybody.".

Must have worked, he/she/it hasn't replied yet. My only proof that he/she/it actually exists. I guess in some way this is the categorical imperative.....

Terry Gilliam: Asked him a question about the political significance of the Knights Who Said "Nee"

Howard Zinn: Got the dates confused to do a phone interview on our radio show, so we called him for a live hour unprepared.
