Ulsan is the Hamilton of Korea....
It is very polluted there. Busan also has some areas that are this bad (kaegum comes to mind) and so does Seoul.
Then again, Tokyo aint exactly an air freshner nor is Beijing and even Toronto these days... |

The only thing beautiful about korea is the chicks in knee high boots.
Have you seen those big arty calendars with photos of beautiful Korea? look closely and you'll notice they're all ,like, close-up shots of leaves or snow that could be anywhere. Because- if the poor cameraman dared to do a panoramic picture it'd be jammed full of identical high- rise apartments.
However,I will say that Gangwha -eup is the blackpool of the western seaboard. |

Funny how most koreans try pretty hard to keep their appearances neat, but most don't give a damn about what their surroundings look like.
There are some nice parts of korea...sarak san park is beautiful and the beaches north of busan are nice, but most of korea is pretty ugly...
But i doesn't matter that much i suppose. |

I agree - there's something nice about Jinju.
Korean cities may be gritty, but that's all right.
Probably the most beautiful places I saw in Korea were the islands off the southern coast. If you're looking for a cool trip that will make you like Korea, I recommend you go to Yosu and take the next ferry to the farthest island. You'll get way off the beaten track to places not mentioned in any guidebook or tourist lit. There are islands out there with no cars. |

KOK,
Do you remember the names of the islands you've been to? |

Trin -
I can probably dig up some names, but one that comes to mind as particularly wonderful was Yon-Do.
I did a quick Google search to see if I could find a map, and came up with this article:

Intestinal parasites or not, I still recommend the place. |
