The above are genuinely legitimate greivences. So much theft based on "goodness". Joe McCarthy wasn't the raving lunatic he was made out to be after all. |
Yeah, I have heard some say the same about Hitler. He had an effective anti-immigration policy also. |

Ah.
Actually, McCarthy was a BLT-Trainer-style rabbid dog. This notwithstanding, I would disagree with Desultude's comparison of those in the U.S. who oppose illegal aliens to Hitler.
And I am not surprised that a Hitler comparison has emerged (again) on this board in an issue that bears no relationship to the history of Nazi Germany. |
Please reread what I said- I was comparing McCarthy to Hitler. And this is a apt comparison.
I would never compare the opponents to immigration in general. Many. as I said above, are just deluded by the powers that benefit from the immigrant labor, yet need the votes of the masses. Smoke and mirrors.
I don't casually throw around the Hitler comparison, but given what I was responding to- it was apt. |

McCarthy put people in death camps? McCarthy killed six million Jews? McCarthy sparked a world war that left tens of millions dead and injuried?
This is not apt at all. McCarthy was a tin-pot politician that was given a little power. But he had nowhere near the power or influence that Hitler did. Nor were his acts comparable. |

Maybe not in execution, but in desire. He destroyed a lot of people, and had quite absolutist ideas- the kind one might label "fascistic".
Pick nits if you please, but you seem damned determined to undermine my little statement. Go ahead, I will surely not try to convince you otherwise. |

It is not nitpicking to ask you to stick to the facts and leave the hyperbole out of it.
McCarthy was a Republican Senator on a self-appointed anticommunist crusade.
He was something of a zealot, and, if I recall correctly, Congress censured him and distanced itself from his "McCarthyism."
A lot of people's lives were shaken up and severely damaged by this.
But he was not a fascist.
The United States mobilized for total war against fascism. It may be inconvenient for you to recognize this, but we have no history of or love for fascism in the United States.
Just the facts, mam. |
Based on your definition of fascism.
And, of course, we have gone off course.
My point was that McCarthy is not the voice on immigration issues that you ought to be putting forth. When you invoke McCarthy, you undermine your own argument, however you wish to define McCarthy. |

"My definition" of fascism? This is not a matter of personal interpretation.
Fascism sprouted in Southern and Central Europe during the interwar years and was put down by the Western democracies after a long and bloody conflict.

Turkmenistan seems to be the closest we have to that right now. Now that's a nutty place. |

McCarthy is relevent due to the nature of that court decison that states The US shall provide an equal education to all children regardless of their immigration status. That ruling is a victory for world Communism and its was bought to you by The US Federal Judiciary. Communists have infiltrated the US government. They certainly have infiltrated the US borders. See those Che t-shirts? Has Latin America not been turning left lately? Castro still the coolest guy on the hemisphere? You don't have to be book larned thug to be a commie, just a thug.
On the Economist data...
The scientific evidence that has been presented says there has been no decrease due to the influx of illegal immigrant labor. Its unfortunate there has also been shown no increase in wages either so no benefit to the most of us. I'm entitled to reject the claims of benefits on the basis of this evidence.
How long will those figures last anyway? 1 billion extra illegals? 2 billion? What are you willing to wager? |
