The Jon Stewart quote wasn't to say we're tired of Christian presidents, but that we're tired of Christians pretending they're persecuted in the U.S. when nearly everyone in power is Christian.

Whether or not our founding fathers were Christians is irrelevant to the fact that the constitution proscribes a separation of church and state, not only to protect the non-believers, polytheists, etc, but to protect the religious from the state.
