so your philosophy as a buddhist is to try to piss me off more in a lame and totally pointless attempt to sound clever? |

Common courtesy is universal. Sorry Koreans. Smarten up or continue to get a bad rep all around the world.
I know the line of people can see me. When they pretend they can't, I charge right through. When the goof on the subway pretends to sleep and slumps on me, he gets a sharp elbow. |
I give up. Is this meant to be ironic? |
|
The heart of manners everywhere is consideration for other people. Those people who genuinely fall asleep on the subway and happen to let their head fall on your royal shoulder do not deserve an elbow in the ribs.
As for the line of people, I'm not sure what situation you're talking about here. When would you expect a whole line of people to get out of your way?

listen, dillhole, i've travelled back and forth between the east and west enough times to know that 1. many koreans are stupid, 2. many westerners are stupid, and 3. most westerners in korea are stupid, loud, pointlessly mean, and generally worthless human beings. even here i can't get away from stupid comments being thrown at me at random by some dumb ugly cracker who hasn't had his or her daily dose of "look at me! i have to say something!". if you're one of those people, and i'm guessing you are, let me give you a piece of advice. if you see a 20-something half-white, half-korean dude walking around, don't *beep* talk to me. i don't care why you think i want to hear your opinion. you were a stupid child and you're a stupid adult. get a life. |
White people you don't know come up to you and make stupid comments at random?
Sounds like it could be entertaining following you around with a camera for a day. There could be a Reality TV show there waiting to happen! |

I was in an airplane lineup in Thailand and a Japanese gent shoved in front of me, and I embarassed him royally until he went to the back of the line. |
The first time I looked at this I read it as "I embraced him royally," which sounded like a novel way of dealing with the issue. Maybe we can start a campaign of hugging people who cut in line. |
Reminds me of being at a concert here - No Doubt - a few years back. I was in the very front, but this little Korean gal beside me kept waving her arm right in my face. I pulled it down a few times, motioning that she was blocking my view... she ignored me.
So I just started licking her elbow. After a few seconds, she was very much out of my direct line of sight. I mean, how bad can an elbow be?

Can you imagine the story she's telling her friends maybe even right at this moment?
"Well I was at this concert having a good time when this big waygookin started touching me. I didn't notice at first but then I felt something strange. She was licking me!! Ewwww!! What a freak!!! I was outta there so fast!"

Mods, please put this thread out of its misery. It had potential to be a useful rapport, but it degenerated into a pissing contest. Don't know about you, but I hate when that happens. |

while we're at it, let's talk about germans. have you ever seen a bunch of germans at a tourist site? i've never had so many photos ruined by a bunch of fat, oblivious, chainsmoking titbirds.
sauntering around, when it's clear that you're trying take a picture... "ziss... is just not very sublime, iss it? it reprezenzz zat kind of angzt, zat sing zat kierkegaard wrote about in his..."
and with a quick bazooka blast they're gone. |

It's unfortunately true. The 'next' generation is about as equally obtuse as their antecedents. It seems to be embedded in their DNA. And while they're blissfully unaware of the lack of civilty that they possess while bouncing off one another on the sidewalk, or doing the 'halmoni rush' onto the subway or the elevator, for those of us who come from cultures that place some value on personal space, this sort of behavior on a daily basis can degrade the quality of one's life. It's a rare day when I can walk from my apt to my work without having to take some evasive action. The job is good enough, but getting there and back is more ugly than it ought to be. Whatever learning is being transmitted from one generation to the next has nothing to do with courtesy. Only in Korea, you say? Thank the gods! |
