Anyway, back there in August: BB King's and a few other places I will go to and see if I can jam a couple of songs too. Dunno if they do that in US, but I'm happy to ask .....

Here's a tip -- check the Monday edition of the Korea Economic Daily (Maeil Gyeongjae) and look in its travel section. It has gobs and gobs of travel agency ads and if you're lucky, you can reserve a bargain package.

It also seems prices start to fly after mid-July so if you can, go before then. The price of a Bali package especially rises in the peak season.

It's a pretty nice rest of year shaping up - it seems to be a progressive buildup -

Song-tan for the weekend Smile

FlowFest in Gang-won do the next weekend. Wish I could take theat Monday off & make it a 4-day, but not really reasonable - a lot of work on the plate!

Bo-ryung Mud Festival for 4 days in July, which kicks off the 'actual' vacation - 2 weeks paid!

Bali->Lombok/Gilis (for scuba)->Singapore. This is a combo party/scuba/romantic retreat/full-on debauch, and much needed. Heat does not bother me - it shouldn't, if a good chunk of your days are spent under the sea or on a hammock in the shade, or getting a massage! Twisted Evil

Then I think it is quiet until Ch'useok, when it will be 9 days in Taipei, or HK/Macau (C wants to go to Disneyland, & I want to take her), or some KL/Malay combo. (again, paid time off)

Dec finishes up with 2 1/2 weeks in Australia, visiting Denz & Mi-hwa. And yep, this one is paid as well. Like some others, not as much pay or vacation as some places, but I love my job overall, & am treated very well.

Regards,

Glen

(It is really nice to see most of the places above in the thread I've hit before; next year will be a vacation ~ scouting/buying property in Costa Rica, before the move off to Vietnam). Goodbye, US citizenship!!! Hello, retirement!!!

I have 25 days this summer that will include at least 2 weeks at home in Ontario, and then at least one week down in Virginia. However, I would also like to take a few days in Japan, so I may change those numbers a little bit.

Flying to Lahore in Pakistan tomorrow.
Will either stroll over to Afghan for a bit or head up the Karakorum Highway.
Not exactly a "vacation" but no doubt interesting.

Yeah, Wangja, Nashville is small, but I always try to get in at least a day there when I have to visit my family because rural Western KY is so dull. If you really want to know provincial, drive north from Nashville. Some great music does come out of where my family lives, though. The Everly Brothers come back every year for a concert in Central City (they're from Cleaton). There are streets named after Mose Rager and John Prine in Drakesboro where my father lives. No place to see any live music, though - dry county! Another reason to go to Nashville.

I get 5 weeks summer vacation.
I'm headed up the east coast of Australia from Sydney to Cannes. I thought about going to Thailand, Cambodia, etc. but decided the wet season wasn't a good time to go.

Sydney to CANNES?

Cannes is in France.

Cairns is in Australia. Wink

I have no holidays for the rest of the year, but I have three huge trips planned for next year (a few weeks in Asia, a few months in Europe, a month in the US).

Its a toss up between 1-2 months NZ or 2-3 months Philippines. Not sure at the moment, but as I will be unemployed once again until the next contract. Its not really a concern as to where I go just as long as I am happy there and I can get a new contract in Korea for when I am tired of my vacation.

In that case you should know that one month in New Zealand equals three or FOUR months elsewhere in ASia, except Japan. It is sooo expensive to be a tourist in NZ. If you have savings to carry you over until your next job you may find your time stretches along with your money in the Philippines.

I wouldn't be in NZ as a tourist.

I wouldn't be in the Philippines as a tourist either in the traditional sense.

Both work out financially the same. but finding a new job from NZ may be easier. Certain Koreans are easily confused by such details as the country you are in when you apply for a job. Its best not to use big words or difficult issues when applying for certain jobs.

(That doesn't include everyone, so don't put words in my mouth).
