Here are the senators, among many who backed the report...

You cite a letter that Kerry and other leading Democratic Senators wrote to the actual and bipartisan Senate Select Committe on Intelligence approximately one year ago, asking it to look into the so-called Downing Street Memorandum. By the way, do you have the Committee's response to Kerry's letter or, better yet, the results of what Kerry calls "Phase II" of the Committee's investigation? These documents would be worth taking a look at.

http://www.gpoaccess.gov/serialset/creports/iraq.html

In any case, Kerry's letter makes no reference to, and does not in any way endorse, or have any relationship at all to the "report" you previously cited.

This letter also makes no reference to these Congressmen, who authorized it...

http://www.house.gov/judiciary_democrats/about/members.html

or their partisan staff, who researched and wrote it...

http://www.house.gov/judiciary_democrats/about/staff.html

I think you are confusing several things here. I think you do not understand the U.S. political system. But, in any case, I am glad that you brought up the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

As you may or may not know, since the Church Committee hearings, Congress has actively overseen the intelligence process. Both the Senate and the House have select committees on intelligence and are required to be briefed on all intelligence matters.

These Senators and Congressmen, then, saw the prewar intelligence, too, and they did not object to the conclusions the administration was drawing from it.

This is because these conclusions were not based on unreasonable assumptions, especially given Saddam's uncooperative nature with respect to UN inspectors and his history and present threats to use weapons of mass destruction.

Gopher -- it is obvious that whatever the evidence , you would not accept it......despite the emperor having no clothes, you just offer possibilities that it can't be true because.......

Your logic is much like the government's. Through doubt and fear into any situation.

It goes like this. We can't do wrong because we are doing right. So all wrongs are actually part of a larger right. So we are right.

If others bring evidence of wrongdoing -- they are anti - American. Must be wrong.

If Americans bring evidence of wrong doing, they have a hidden agenda. It is part of the political process and not "truth". They are wrong.

If we bring evidence of our errors/lies/wrong doing...........we would be crazy. That could never happen, we are always right.

What a horrible world of ideological/immoral atheistic semantic tongue twisting we live in!!!! Slimy.

DD

The facts of this case, whatever the mouthpiece speak volumes. I just wish that Americans might understand this but unfortunately Rove and his clown act will just spin it into happygolucky / we did it in America's interest, we are the defendors spin...........

Ddeubel: you have presented no facts whatsoever.

You only present convenient and emotional partisan assertion, disguised as a "report," and then you use this document to moralize.

Let me know when you are ready to deal with actual evidence. I suspect that will be never, however, as, in addition to your deep-seated antiAmerican worldviews, you also -- like many of your correligionists here -- show an intrenched inability to separate facts and analysis from ideology and partisan positioning. You cannot even contribute insightful information or opinion on a thread that treats Somali affairs without digressing into your usual antiAmerican diatribe.

Finally, the above quotation offers yet additional evidence that you are incapable of intellectual honesty. You chronically oversimplify and then mischaracterize the views of those with whom you disagree, thus creating the crudest form of the strawman fallacy.

In fact, I do not believe what you would attribute to me, and I have never said or even intimated such nonsense. You are lying here.

That will be all.

OK, Bush has declared war on Islamofacism. So what does he do, invade Iraq, which at the time had no Islamofacism, it was a secular state, or at least as much as one in the middle east can be. So while Bush is bogged down in a war that had nothing to do with Islamofacism the Taleban rebounded in Afghanistan, the Arab Muslims slaughtered hundreds of thousands in Sudan (and we know that Bin Laden once lived in Khartoum before he moved to Afghanistan), these new Muslim whack jobs have now taken over Somalia (nice attemp at blaming Clinton for that btw Wink ), Iran is going to have the Bomb, Syria probably got some sort of WMD from Saddam, the herion trade is booming in Afghanistan.

Now thats all the successes that I can remember just sitting here at my desk without looking anything up. I'm sure posters on this board could post a few more Bushie screwups!

Why doesn't the rest of the world help out in the Sudan or Somalia.

What? It always has to be American blood?

And even if we did stop the slaughter, then you'd still have something to complain about.

Why? It's obvious. You're anti-American.
