| When making these huge lists, you have to ask yourself, "How many of these people am I actually proud of?" |

I just thought I would throw this out there and get your thoughts. The CBC did a show a few years ago called the Greatest Canadian. Canadians from across the country voted on who they thought should be the greatest Canadian of all time. Here's the top ten:
1. Tommy Douglas
2. Terry Fox
3. Pierre Trudeau
4. Sir Frederick Banting
5. David Suzuki
6. Lester Pearson
7. Don Cherry
8. Sir John A. MacDonald
9. Alexander Graham Bell
10. Wayne Gretzky
Here's the link:

Right, perhaps he has him mixed up with Captain Kirk and Scotty. Two fine Canadian lads.

You`re the one who`s mixed up. Captain Kirk will be born in Iowa, USA. |
HapKi, didn't I see you dressed up as a Vulcan at one of those Star Trek conventions? |

Alexander Graham Bell is a bit iffy. He's also claimed by the Scots (born and educated there) and the Americans (became a citizen in 1880, invented the telephone while working in Boston.) He emigrated to Canada when he was 23, but became a US citizen twelve years later.
That list of Canadian inventions was great. Where would we be without them? It reminded me of that Simpsons sketch about "a world without zinc."
Zinc! Come back zinc! |
