Hanson....many airlines use the famous box as a bassinet....

As long as it comes with clean blankets and the proper metal support it works just fine...even if it does not look good.

Also...some parents seem to expect airplane bassinets to look like regular bassinets (a friend of mine did!)....when in reality that is just not possible considering space and safety issues on a plane.

No metal support - just a cardboard box. Safety issues were apparently not a concern for American Airlines. The box was like a lame, home-made kittylitter.

I've flown tons of times and I never ever saw these cardboard boxes before having to use one on my last trip.

When we flew to Australia last winter, we were even given a small baby seatbelt to attach to the adult one for take-off and landing. The baby seatbelt had a small loop at the back to slip into the adult's seatbelt, while the baby sat on the adult's lap.

With all the safety issues on planes these days, you'd think they'd insist on babies having a real basinette. Hell, they even run through how to put on a friggin seat belt at the beginning of each flight and tell you to keep it on even when the seatbelt sign is turned off. But, oh, yeah, you can just leave your baby on the floor. Shocked

Wow...that does sound bad Hanson!

We had full service on Northwest (bassinet fixed in the wall, special blankets for the baby...).

Perhaps AA needs to revise the quality of their service...
